CBS Supposes To Fire A Reporter In An Execution To Reduce Costs. Signs Apparently Point to A Lead Anchor

Are CBS planning to fire one of its most respected reporters? According to one tabloid, a key player at CBS could be leaving. Here is the latest CBS gossip.

CBS Creates One of Their Own "Walk The Plank"?

The National Enquirerreports CBS this week is cutting costs and could "anchors away” for one its most well-known faces. Broadcast news is notoriously competitive. Since the last decade, scandals have plagued the broadcast news industry. Now these networks won't hesitate to let go if they aren't pulling their weight. CBS' top brass has begun to reevaluate some of its most expensive players in an effort to cut down on financial costs.

CBS Evening News anchor Norah Oleson is first to be cut. O'Donnell was unable to appear on the broadcast that marked one year since the Capitol riots. The network instead sent Tony Dokoupil, a "far less experienced and costly" CBS This Morning host. Sources claim that Dokoupil was sent in by CBS to signal the end of O'Donnell's reign.

Even if Dokoupil does not take O'Donnell's place, there's something that has to be done. O'Donnell's evening show is falling behind ABC and NBC in ratings. CBS wants to change things up. A snitch warned that if they claim you are safe and you are in third place, you should not believe them. "They also told Katie Couric that she was safe -- and look at what happened to her!"

CBS: Norah O'Donnell "On the Way Out"

For a few reasons, this story seems unlikely. These rumors have been denied by CBS co-president Neeraj Khhemlani. Khemlani, CBS co-president, enthusiastically stated that O'Donnell was at the top of the ratings. And when asked if O'Donnell was in danger, he replied, "We don't have any plans to change what is happening." We are leaning on our strengths." It is clear that there are no plans for fixing what isn’t broken.

Secondly, O'Donnell will not be leaving CBS anytime soon. O'Donnell was selected to lead a new program for the CBS streaming service. The series will be called Personal-to-Person and will feature interviews with newsmakers. It will begin with Brene Brown, author and researcher. CBS has great plans for Norah.

The Tabloid on CBS

This is not the first time we have gotten a whiff of CBS drama from the National Enquirer. In a last-ditch effort to keep Gayle King in her place, the network hired Nate Burleson. The magazine then claimed Gayle King was trying to push Norah O’Donnell out. Finally, the magazine claimed that King as well as O’Donnell were being axed. Evidently, the Enquirer isn't as tuned in to CBS dramas as it pretends.
