Beloved Today Show Weatherman Al Roker is protected by a lioness who defends him when his co-stars make too many jokes. Deborah, Al's wife is one of his most loyal supporters and protectors. But that doesn't make him immune to her ire.

Al and Deborah Roker's marriage takes 'Today" spotlight

Al and Deborah Roker have enjoyed matrimonial bliss ever since they were married in 1995. But Deborah isn't content. Al and Hoda Kotb, his co-host on the Today Show had a casual discussion about Deborah's outspokenness when it comes to her husband.

They were discussing George Clooney's comments that he didn't want his wife to see his 1997 movie Batman & Robin, as he wanted her "respect" for him.

Kotb made it personal and mentioned Al's wife. He explained that her husband sometimes watches what Kotb is doing. He said, "She watches because... because then she hears about the things that I've spoken."

Al gets a text from his wife and knows he went too far when he receives it.

Kotb said, "Deborah always texts first when Al crosses the line--and sometimes you do--" with Al quick to add, "Every now an then."

Kotb said, "Every now an then," before adding, "And Deborah texts you, "Pull it Back." Pull it back." She asked, "So, what do you do when the Deborah text arrives?"

Al replied with a shrug and his trademark laid-back charm: "Well, I always figure it’s live TV. There's nothing that I can do about this now!"

Deborah Treatment for Co-Stars

Al did not want the audience to believe he was the only target of Deborah’s text. Instead, Al added, "What I do Love is She's My Biggest Protector, if You Will." Al's Today star Craig Melvin would occasionally "make an age joke" and soon found himself at the receiving end Deborah's warning messages.

"She said, You better knock that off,' and then he'll say, 'Oh, I got a message from Debbie Roker!'" Al remembered, sounding scared and nervous, trying to imitate Melvin. "She will come to you!"

Al's Biggest 'Defender, Cheerleader'

Deborah Roker clearly doesn't hesitate to defend her husband, even if she isn't criticizing his fashion sense. Kotb said, "She is a fierce defender for Al and his biggest cheerleader. But she does jump up on you when - remember those orange glasses? They didn't appeal to her."

Al admitted that Deborah wasn't thrilled, but insistently said, "I still wear these."

The Today Show hosts weave their stories seamlessly between news articles. This is one of the greatest things about the Today Show . It's both comforting to the audience and entertaining to see intimate glimpses into the lives of the stars and how they interact with their families. This makes viewers feel as if they are waking up with their friends each morning.
