NCIS Fans Slam NCIS: "The Gang is Not All Here"

The photo shows show characters McGee and Torres (Wilmer Vallderrama) discussing a case together with Parker (Gary Cole), and Knight (Katrina Law). The post was not criticized by fans, but they did object to the caption: "The Gang's All Here and READY for an All-New Episode of #NCIS."

There was a flood of comments from viewers who missed Harmon and criticized the show for what they saw as "retconning." You're missing Leroy Jethro Gibbs, the leader. Stop retconning Gibbs existence! BRING GIBBS BACK!" wrote one fan furious.

NCIS Didn’t 'Retcon’ Harmon’s Character

It's understandable for fans to be upset about the departure of one of their favourite characters from the show. However, it's unfair for NCIS to accuse Harmon of being retconning his character. Harmon's character, Gibbs, has decided to retire from law enforcement after 18 years. He is not being erased or portrayed as a fictional character. He may even make an appearance in future episodes.

Following Harmon's departure, showrunner Steve Binder issued a statement that stated, "As an executive producers and dear friend Mark continues to be an essential part of the show's fabric. Our north star has been being true to our characters. That truth has guided the stories we tell, and where they go. As long-time viewers of the show might have noticed, Gibbs' future is not in doubt. Leroy Jethro Gibbs will continue to be a part of the story.

Many fans still feel sad for Harmon's departure, but others are starting to embrace the new cast. One fan wrote, "I love this new team dynamic the new guys are fitting into well and the humor has returned," Another wrote, "I miss Gibbs, but I like Parker more and more!"
