Following a five-day manhunt, Ex-Cop and Two Kidnapped Daughters were Found Dead in Car. Female Accomplice also found dead

The horrific tale ended in a murder-suicide.

Authorities have confirmed that a former Baltimore cop, his female accomplice and his two kidnapped children were all found dead inside a car in Maryland.

Robert Vicosa (42), and Tia Bynum, 35, were found shot to death along with their sisters Aaminah Vicosa (6 and Giana Vicosa (7). This was a suspected murder-suicide.

The tragic end of the five-day crime spree ended in a police chase when the vehicle crashed as it attempted to cross Pennsylvania's state line. After a standoff, officers approached the car with smoke inhalation and found all four victims inside.

Vicosa's ex-wife called 911 on Sunday to report that Vicosa had assaulted her at her Windsor Township home by an ex-police officer from Baltimore County.

Police were able to determine that Vicosa was involved in multiple drugs and guns. She fled to a neutral area, where officers met her.

WBAL reported that officers entered the house and found the house ruined. The family's dog was left behind. Vicosa and Vicosa's two daughters were gone.

Police received information that Vicosa was driving a black Acura TL belonging to Tia Bynum, a Baltimore PD sergeant.

Investigators traced a ping from Vicosa’s cell phone to Bynum's house. They found that Vicosa refused to consent to a search, and she was "less than forthcoming."

According to Lt. Ken Schollenberger of York Area Regional Police, Vicosa tried to cross Red Lion's waterway on Tuesday, but the car was disabled. He jumped out and demanded a new car from a passing motorist at gunpoint.

Schollenberger stated, "She looks over, and she sees her car in her channel... she then looks at the canal to hear a voice. She turns to her right, and there is a Black male coming out of the camper with a towel around him waist." He then puts a gun to her face and says that he needs her car and needs her to find rope for him to tie it up.

The woman gave her car and phone to the girl, but not a rope. She also gave blankets and towels to the girls who had been crossing the canal.

The Volkswagen Jetta was found abandoned after police tracked Vicosa’s stolen phone. However, police were still able track Vicosa’s phone which returned to Bynum's house. Vicosa, the girls and Bynum weren't present when officers arrived with a warrant.

Baltimore Police Department announced Wednesday that Bynum was suspended from the force. They appealed for the public to report sightings and many did. However, the fugitives managed one step ahead of their pursuers.

Police advised residents not to approach the suspects, warning them that they were dangerous and armed. Schools in the vicinity were placed under lockdown.

Another victim was kidnapped and carjacked in Cockeysville that day. He was forced to drive to several locations around Baltimore before being released unharmed.

On Thursday morning, Chief Tim Damon of York Area Regional Police pleaded for the safe return of the children in a news conference.

Damon stated, "We would like to place Gigi and Mina into a safe location where they can ensure their safe return" They don't need to be involved and we want to make sure that your girls, Gigi and Mina, are safe.

Lt. Schollenberger said, "These are children, they are babies, and it is our duty to bring them home to their mother immediately." "We hope he remembers that he is a father and that he will do the right thing to bring these little girls home.

Damon sent a message to Bynum: "Tia. Our priority is the safety of Giana, Aaminah, and Giana. These two precious and innocent children need to be taken to safety. Drop them off at any public safety facility or other safe place with a responsible adult who will take care of them. Everyone's safety and wellbeing is our priority. We understand that you are exhausted. We are here to help you find a peaceful and safe solution.

The five-day chase ended tragically on Thursday at 2:30 pm when Pennsylvania state troopers received an alert that a car matching the description was trying to cross the state border from Maryland.

After a brief chase, the car fled the road and crashed into the fence.

Maryland State Police Crisis Negotiation Team tried several times to contact the occupants of car. Car was filled with thick smoke making it difficult for them to see inside.

It was decided to get in the car from the passenger side. Officers discovered Bynum dead at his wheel and Vicosa with Vicosa in Vicosa's backseat. All four were shot in the head.

Three of the three victims were declared dead on the spot. One of the little girls was flown by helicopter to the hospital but she was also sadly declared deceased.

The police did not reveal who fired the shots.

Robert Vicosa joined Baltimore County PD December 2014. After being promoted to sergeant, he was degraded to officer after an investigation revealed that he had engaged in inappropriate conduct with female subordinates.

Another investigation revealed that he was guilty of refusing to do his job and sleeping on the job. In August, he was fired.

Baltimore PD had been With Bynum for 14 years. She had only been disciplined once after she crashed her police car responding to a 2013 call.
