Gerry Turner, 71 years old, has been named the long-awaited Golden Bachelor of ABC's senior dating show!
Three years after ABC began taking applications for "seniors looking for love" as part of The Bachelor and The Bachelorettefranchise, it has finally been announced who will be the star of The Golden Bachelor.
In an Interview with , Good Morning America ,, the new reality star, opened up about his experience as the new bachelor, six years after losing the love of his life.
Turner said, "It is never too late to love again."
He continued, "I always think about the things I've done: Don't give up. There are always options."
Turner told a sweet tale about how he asked his wife for approval when asked about her opinion of his appearance on the program.
"I have her picture on my dresser. "What do you think of this?" I ask her every morning. Turner revealed that for a time, she was unsure if Turner would be ok. "But we told each other that when one of us went, we wanted the other to be happy."
He added with tears in his eyes, "She's there rooting." "She's saying, 'Yeah, Gerry. "Do this.
Gerry, a father of two daughters said that his girls convinced him to submit an application for this show.
In describing his ideal partner, he said that he wanted someone who was "high-energy, someone who maybe plays pickleball or golf."
Turner said that he would "not discount" the possibility of a future wedding special.
The Golden Bachelor will premiere on ABC this fall.
