Matthew Hutchins, Halyna's husband, gave two brief statements to the media following the passing of his wife. He died on Thursday at 42 years old following a tragic accident on the set for Alec Baldwin's western film "Rust."

According to TMZ, Hutchins was the film's director-of-photography after Baldwin accidentally fired a prop gun. According to Santa Fe Sheriff's Department, New Mexico, she was flown to hospital but died later from her injuries. Joel Souza, the film's director, was also hurt and was admitted to hospital. He was released on Friday.

Matthew, 38, confirmed Friday to Daily Mail that Baldwin, 63, had been in touch with him. "I spoke with Alec Baldwin, and he is very supportive."

Matthew is the father of an 8-year old boy whom he shares with Halyna. He also spoke to Insider Friday about Hutchins' death.

He said that he didn't believe there were words to describe the situation. "I'm not going to be in a position to comment on the facts or the process of the situation right now, but it is a great feeling to have been listened to by everyone."

Matthew said, "I think we will need to take a bit more time before we can really encapsulate Her life in a way which is easy to understand."

Baldwin posted a Twitter statement Friday morning, in which he addressed both the incident and Hutchins’ death.

Baldwin posted, "There are no words that can express my shock and sadness at the tragic accident that claimed the life of Halyna HUTCHINS, a wife and mother, and deeply admired colleague of mine," "I am fully cooperating in the police investigation to determine how this tragedy occurred. I am in touch and offering my support for her husband and his family. I am deeply sorry for her husband and their son and all those who loved Halyna.

1-There are no words that can express my sadness and shock at the tragic accident that claimed the life of Halyna HUTCHINS, our wife, mother, and dear colleague. To find out how this tragedy happened, I am fully cooperating with police investigations.

Ireland Baldwin, his daughter, also shared condolences on Friday afternoon via her Instagram Story.

"My support and love go to Halnya [sic] Hutchins and her family." She wrote that she was sending healing thoughts to Joel Souza, and wished she could hug her dad more tightly today.

Hailey Bieber Baldwin's niece posted similar sentiments to her Instagram Story.

"I send all my love and support to Halyna Hutchins' family. This is an unimaginable, terrible tragedy. As he recuperates, my thoughts and prayers are with Joel Souza. "I am so sorry for all of them."

According to its production team, production on Rust was halted following the accident on-set.

"The whole cast and crew has been devastated by today’s tragedy," a spokesperson from Rust Movies Production LLC stated to Deadline in a statement.

The statement stated that "we have halted film production for an undetermined time and are fully cooperating in the Santa Fe Police Department’s investigation." As we process this horrible event, we will provide counseling services for all film-related parties.

According to Santa Fe Sheriff's Department officials, Baldwin was questioned and then released. Deadline was informed by an official at the department that "no arrests or charges" had been made.

Hollywood and other stars shared their condolences to the victims of the tragic accident and loss of life. Many shared their condolences to Hutchins' final Instagram post, which featured a video of Hutchins riding horseback in New Mexico during the film's location shoot.

Dwayne Johnson wrote, shortly after the news broke: "I am so sorry." Rest in peace. You have my love and strength. David Boreanaz wrote, "Rest peacefully," while Selma Blir wrote, "May your family have all the good times wherever you are." Bright light. Love.

This isn’t the first occasion that a prop gun has accidentally killed someone in a studio production. The most famous incident was when Brandon Lee (son of Bruce Lee) was accidentally shot and killed as he was finishing production on "The Crow."

Lee received praises for his performance and the film was released in the following year. Shannon Lee, his sister, created a Twitter account in his honor to honour his legacy.

Lee's family took to Twitter to respond to the tragedy. They tweeted, "Our hearts go out Halyna Hutchins' family and Joel Souza, and all those involved in the incident at Rust. A gun on a set should never be used to kill anyone. No.
