"You did not come from Mommy, but from my heart."

Hoda Kotb already informed her daughters that she was adopted.

Today's host, Haley Joy, 4 and Hope Catherine, 2 shared their sweet stories with People's podcast, "Me Becoming a Mom".

She told Zoe Ruderman, "I tell them that they were adopted. I'm not certain if they 100% understand what that means." "I always tell them, "You didn't come from Mommy, you came from mine." They get that.

"They asked me, 'Did you ever have a baby?' "They asked me, 'Did a baby ever come from your tummy?' I replied, 'No. It didn't. It didn't. "My daughter said, "Okay, I'm adoptive." They do that all the time.

She said, "We haven’t had the big conversations about it because I believe that is to come." They know they have been adopted and I tell them how awesome it is. They get so excited when I tell them about Ella, their cousin.

Joel Schiffman, Hoda's fiance for eight years, shares the girls with her. They adopted Haley in 2017 and named her after Halley’s Comet.

Hoda describes the moment she met her for the first time. She says she can't remember who gave the child to her. "Because all I could see was her," she said.

She said, "They put her into my arm... she fit as if she were born there." "I looked down, and I saw these eyes staring at me, and I thought, 'Forever, as long as you are breathing, you will always be loved and protected.'

"She felt right away like mine. It took no time. It was instant for me."

She continued, "Her eyes were staring right up at me and it was magic." Sometimes you have to wonder what you really deserve in your life. What are you entitled to? What do you deserve? I feel like I did. Everything was changed by her. It was like the world suddenly focusing. She made the world a better place for me."

The 57-year old said that the sisters were best friends from day one.

They are intertwined. Hoda said that they hold hands and don't let go. "They send each other letters and the teachers deliver them. They are so loving and caring.

Hoda had previously stated that she plans to add one more member of the family to her family. However, the pandemic has slowed down her plans.
