The loss of Chadwick BOseman has left a void in the world, and raised many questions for the Marvel brain trust. What does Black Panther's future look like without Boseman? Should another actor play T’Challa in his place? Boseman's brother offers some intriguing thoughts.

To Recast or Not to Cast?

The future of Black Panther is a matter of great concern to the fans. Rumours abound about T'Challa being killed quickly to make way for another character to become Black Panther, as Disney continues to work on Black Panther. Wakanda Forever.

T'Challa's younger sister Shuri is the obvious choice, as played by Letitia Wright. Although we know Shuri will be playing a larger role due to Boseman's passing, the truth of her story is still a mystery.

Wright may be done

However, the future is looking grim because Wright is considered a pariah by her fans. Wright is an outspoken anti-vaxxer and there were rumors that she was spreading anti vax sentiments on the set. Rumours had her claiming she was leaving Marvel, but it seems she is taking time off to heal from an injury. Wright denied spreading anti-vax sentiments at the set.

#RecastTChalla

Fans have begun calling for a complete overhaul amid the Wright drama. Many are pointing out that the Wright drama could have been avoided by using the hashtag #RecastTChalla. It isn't an easy decision to cast Boseman, so it's understandable Disney would wish to pay tribute to his memory and retire the character.

Derrick Boseman, Boseman's younger brother, spoke to TMZ to discuss the possibility of recasting Wakanda's king. He said that Chadwick would want the character to continue because it was larger than one man. Derrick talked about the power that a Black king has on the big screen.

Black Panther was much more than a Marvel movie and a Best Picture nominee. It was a cultural moment. Derrick noted that T'Challa's appearance on the big screen had a profound impact on African American kids. T'Challa being expelled would cause more harm than good.

Extremely unlikely

Although Derrick raises some good points, it is likely too late. Marvel, unlike DC, isn't well-known for large-scale reshoots that dramatically alter the plot. It is currently in the process of giving younger actors the reigns of iconic characters such as Hawkeye, Black Widow, Captain America. Black Panther : Wakanda for Ever is in production so recasting T'Challa will be necessary. Boseman will not be in the film.
