She said that she didn't know why the other defendants had agreed to a plea bargain. Then she added that it would "literally kill" her to be separated with her family.
Jen Shah's wire fraud drama was prominent on Season 3 of "The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City." Filming began seven weeks before Shah's trial.
Shah and Stuart Smith, the assistant to Shah, were accused of selling and generating "leads" of innocent people that could be used in telemarketing scams for nearly a decade. Many victims were working-class and elderly.
Smith changed his plea from not guilty to guilty in 2021, even though both of them initially pled not guilty. Shah maintained her innocence until she finally pleaded guilty in July. Both remain awaiting sentencing.
Shah noted that her new home is half the size of the one she used in Season 1. She also explained that she had downsized her "Shah Squad", and was "doing her best" as she prepares for her court date. Although she was planning to host a party for Coach Sharrieff Shah's birthday, she said it would need to be cut down because "every penny" is going to fight her case.
Shah mentioned that some of her other defendants had pled guilty in plea deals. This was something Shah had zero interest doing.
"I don't know what's happening with the other defendants in that case. She exclaimed, "I don't know why they took a plea agreement, but I won't accept a deal when I'm guilty, I am innocent."
However, she was nervous.
She confessed that she would lie if she said she wasn't afraid. "I am not thinking about me, I am thinking about my family. It would literally kill me to be away from them.
Jen got emotional at the party, and thanked everyone for their support during this difficult time.
She said, "Because we've been through so much, it means more than ever to me to have people that truly love me and my family," to the crowd, becoming choked up. "And to everyone who was there, thank you so much for coming to Coach's birthday to wish him a happy birthday. It means more to me because we can still celebrate together."
Coach Shah also confessed to feeling emotional in his confessional. He said, "The only thing that can bring my wife to tears almost immediately is thinking about life without her." It's difficult to swallow.
As new episodes of RHOSLC air on Wednesdays on Bravo, we'll be able to see if Jen finally gives in to her plea.
