"10 years ago, among Republicans, I was the most viewed talk show host"

Jimmy Kimmel believes that his lower ratings are partly due to Donald Trump jokes.

Kimmel stated that "I have lost half my fans" on his "Naked Lunch” podcast this week.

"10 years ago, among Republicans, I was the most popular talk-show host," Jimmy Kimmel Live! Host claimed.

Kimmel said that ABC executives "indicated" that he should tone down his satirical attacks on the former presidential candidate. Kimmel responded, saying, "I just stated, 'If this's what you want, I understand and don't begrudge it for it but I'm no going to do that."

He said that he couldn't live without this country and added, "I couldn’t live with myself [otherwise]" on the pod. They don't own that flag. This is our flag. "And if I see someone coming in and ruining it, I'm going say something."

But, this comes with a price. Kimmel said, "There's a sacrifice that you make when you come to your audience, and you could pretty well if just you stayed down in the middle."

The late-night host stated that he would still be available if Trump goes to prison.

All late-night programs have seen their ratings drop since Kimmel's 2003 debut.

Kimmel stated that "no one is watching television anymore", and admitted that most viewers watch his show via the internet -- "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" YouTube has 18.9 million subscribers.
