"Judge Judy" Bailiff Petrihawkins Byrd says he was never asked to be on her new show

Judge Judy Bailiff Petrihawkins Byrd says he was never asked to be on her new show

They said that his wages would be too high, despite never having discussed money with him.

For the past quarter century, he was the bailiff on Judge Judy. But, despite his tenure as her right-hand, Petri Hawkins byrd will join the cast of Judy Sheindlin’s new show, "Judy Justice."

Petri stated in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that he wasn't asked to participate in the new series, which will be streamable on IMDB TV.

The former bailiff claimed that he learned about the new show from Sheindlin, who had appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Program" in March 2020. The judge was unable to speak with him about the new series as Sheindlin had filmed remotely from New York while Byrd had been in LA with the rest.

EW was told by Byrd that he assumed, if you were going to do another role, you would at least ask me if it was possible to audition for the part.

The 63 year-old told the story that after "Judge Judy" was over, he focused all his energy on Makita BondByrd, his wife and long-time producer. She was getting ready for brain surgery and her third round chemotherapy.

He confessed that he didn't have the time or energy to ask questions about "Judy Justice". I didn't call the judge until July to ask him if he wanted me to look elsewhere or if I was included in the "Judy Justice" project.

Byrd, who was a Sheindlin employee since 1996's original series, claimed that he was told he wouldn't be included in the new project because his asking salary was too high. This despite the fact that he had never discussed money with them.

"She informed me that I wasn't being asked to join the project. He continued, "But she didn't ask me why, that's her decision." "But she did tell me that I was being priced out to be the new bailiff for her new show. My salary would have been excessive. I was curious. She didn't ask me. She did not give me the opportunity to accept a lower salary."

It's not surprising that Tom Bergeron was fired from DWTS after 28 seasons

Fans learned that Byrd would no longer be playing the role of bailiff in the trailer for "Judy Justice" on IMDB TV. Instead, Kevin Rasco would take over the job as Sheindlin’s personal security.

Sheindlin issued a statement via a spokesperson in the wake of the shock. She said that Byrd was fantastic and had a great 25 year run. This new show features a new cast and exciting energy.

Former bailiff stated that although Sheindlin had called him via phone, he didn't feel like he received a proper sendoff after 25-years of working together.

He recalled that the call with Judy ended "pleasantly enough". "I don’t think she realized how confused and distraught I was after being there for over 25 years, starting at the beginning of my career, and not having the chance to say whether I wanted to continue that relationship."

Although his absence from the "Judy Justice", upcoming show, disappointed many, Byrd remains optimistic about his future projects and is humbled by the fan reactions.

Byrd says, "It's like if you did something wrong, offended you, or brought shame on the show or if there were many scandals during the 25 years that we were together, then I might understand why your not wanting to bother in end." That's how it ended. "I just know God has more for me."

Sheindlin, who is believed to be worth $440million, is a TV personality that is a perennial top earner.

"Judy Justice," will debut on IMDB TV November 1st.
