Keanu Reeves Explains Sad Keanu and Details the Most Insane Trick for Matrix Resurrection

"I'm just eating sandwich man. I'm just eating sandwich!"

Keanu Reeves, who appeared on "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert," revealed a number of bizarre stunts he did for the latest installment in the "Matrix” franchise.

The 57-year old actor is well-known for his ability to film his own stunts. However, he revealed to Stephen Colbert that he and Carrie-Ann Moss took things to another level by jumping from a 46-story building.

The stunt caused quite a stir as fans and onlookers saw the stars leaping off a San Francisco skyscraper during filming in 2020.

Colbert asked Reeves why they leapt from such terrifying heights while so much of the movie was digitally altered. Reeves replied, "Because it is [director] Lana Wachowski," "The Matrix" and you need natural lighting and you want it to be real. There are wires.

The 57-year old shared that they wanted to do it in perfect light so about 19 to 20 times.

"How did Carrie Ann feel?" Colbert asked Reeves, and she replied, "She speaks a lot on kind of mentally preparing for it and that was something I was also doing."

"By the time I get there, I mean that my heart rate was slightly raised but then you can't even think about the fear after the first time. It's important to face it, accept it, then be present and do what you can... that's exactly what we did.

Keanu took the time to address the "sad Keanu” meme that has circulated the internet for years.

After he lost in thought, a paparazzi photo showing the actor eating a sandwich on a New York bench went viral.

"I'm just eating sandwich man. I'm just eating sandwich!" Reeves giggled.

"So, you're not really sad in sad Keanu?" Colbert asked the actor and he replied. Colbert asked the actor, "I was thinking, there was stuff going on." "I was hungry."

Keanu also shared an image from his newest comic book venture "BRZRKR", in which Ron Garney drew the "sad Keanu” meme.

Although the actor did not know that the artist intended to include the easter egg meme in his film, he considered it "kind of meta."
