The episode "Abducted by Parent" featured both Kayla Unbehaun and Heather, who were just nine years old when Kayla went missing.

The 15-year old girl who was missing since 2017 has been found alive after she appeared on Netflix's revival of "Unsolved Mysteries", in 2022.

Kayla Unbehaun, then 9, disappeared with Heather Unbehaun. Heather did not have custody at the time. Ryan Iskerka said that the parents had agreed for Heather to take Kayla on a Fourth-of-July camping trip. However, the mother and daughter pair never returned. He filed a Missing Person's Report for both of them on July 5, in South Elgin. An arrest warrant for Heather was issued later.

The Asheville Police Department responded to an inquiry from Plato's Closet in North Carolina over the weekend regarding a report of kidnapping. Police said a witness in the store believed she recognized a woman from "publicized media" who had kidnapped children in 2017. The two women were confirmed by the South Elgin Police Department after an investigation.

Heather was arrested and booked at the Buncombe Detention Facility with a bond of $250,000.

TooFab reached out to Asheville Police Department in order to clarify. Kayla and Heather appeared in the Netflix revival episode "Abducted by a Parent" from November 2022.

The photos of these children were not the focus of the show, but they were included in a crawl at the end of an hour of allegedly kidnapped children. Anyone with information about this was asked to contact the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

This discovery came shortly after NEMEC published a new photo showing the age progression of Kayla in April ( over). NEMEC also released a statement Monday confirming Kayla's location. She was reunited later with her father who drove to pick up Kayla before bringing back to Illinois.

The girl's dad added, "I want to thank the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and the City of Elgin Police and Fire Departments as well as all of the agencies that assisted in her case." "We ask that you respect our privacy while we get to know one another again and navigate this brand new beginning."
