The trans singer admitted that she "feels a pressure" in representing her community, but added, "I believe what you do, is what is most important, not your gender."
Kim Petras's Grammy victory was followed by another significant achievement: the first Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue Cover.
The magazine's editor-in chief MJ Day described the German-born transgender pop star as "a beacon for inspiration for the LGBTQ+ Community" and "blazed her path to superstardom."
"I was thrilled when I heard that Sports Illustrated wanted me to appear in the magazine. Petras said to the magazine that it was a dream come true because the magazine is very iconic and many famous people have done this before. "I was nervous. I thought, Can I do it? "But now that we are doing it, I'm feeling like we can."
She added, "I also hope people take this away and think that I look really good and Sports Illustrated cool."
Petras also said, "I feel a lot of pressure to represent the transgender community in everything I do because I'm so blessed to be at this stage and I love hearing from trans children and trans people that they are inspired by me."
She added: "I don't think it matters what gender you are, but what you do." I try to always remember that everything I do does not have anything to do with being transgender. It's part of me but I have so many other parts. "I think it's important to me to show people that side of myself."
She added: "I hope this can inspire people, because it doesn't matter what gender you are or what sexuality you have. It's all about how you live your life, and what you're inside of yourself."
Petras, who won a Grammy with Sam Smith in 2010 for the song "Unholy," is now a star bigger than ever.
She explained, "Growing in the suburbs of Cologne, Germany I didn't know if I could ever become the popstar I wanted to be." "But I wanted to do it since I was a child. They didn't believe it. You can't believe I have a Nicki Minaj video.
