After the incident, the suspect allegedly began to DM her victim. He told her that she was "too beautiful to rob", and promised to pay back the money he had taken from her after holding her hostage.
After demanding that the woman who he allegedly stole money from add him to Facebook, a man accused of armed robbery fled the scene not only with $100 extra but also with a new friend.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department reported that Amber Beraun, a victim, was getting her mail on May 8 after returning home from her job when the suspect, later identified as Damian Boyce, 31, approached her.
He took it out of his pocket and showed me, to show me: "This is what's going on. Let me into your house," she told WRTV. She told WRTV that he took the gun out of his pockets and showed it to her, so she could see what was going on. "I didn't do that."
She offered him $100 cash, saying she had nothing valuable inside. Things got weird.
According to the probable-cause affidavit Boyce asked Beraun whether she had a partner, and then, still under gunpoint, "asked her to add him as a Facebook friend so that he could repay Brain for the money that he stole." According to the documents, Boyce gave his victim's full name and pointed to the right profile before telling her to add him.
She told WRTV that she thought he would leave if he was added on Facebook.
Boyce, who fled the scene by bicycle, accepted Beraun’s friend request, and began sending messages to the victim. In one of his messages, Boyce said, "Look, just know I'm going to pay you back." Another read, "You wass too pretty to rob... Come chill with me."
Beraun, bewildered by the situation, told WRTV: "I can't even understand what they were thinking." According to her affidavit she did not immediately call the police, but after talking to her boyfriend about the incident decided to report it.
According to USA Today, the man was charged with armed theft and felon in possession a gun and held under a $7,500 bond.
