Maria Menounosjust had a baby girl born!
In an Interview with Us Weekly, the television personality and actress opened up about her surrogate daughter.
Menounos said that holding her daughter Athena Alexandra was "the most special moment in my life." The doctor literally grabbed Athena Alexandra and lifted her up onto my chest. Keven and me kept saying, "Oh my God" as I sat on my chest with her. It was pure joy."
Keven Undergaro, her husband said: "It felt like Christmas morning a million times."
Menounos' journey has been long, with her brain tumor battle in 2017 and the infertility problems that led to her trying surrogacy. She revealed the coming baby earlier this year in Live with Kelly and Ryan where she also added that stars helped her through the process.
"It has been a while, we have done everything." The tried to make me pregnant but it didn't work. Kevin had surgery and it didn't work. He hung me up like a chicken upside down, but that didn't help! Menounos told the TV hosts that they had done everything. Menounos has been very open about his experience with IVF, and surrogacy.
"But we were so lucky." "Zoe Saldana, Kim Kardashian and other people have helped me so much in my journey. They both gave me their advice and were there for me," she said.
Menounos said, "Athena was our miracle child." "I'm so grateful for her."
Menounos called her experience of motherhood "euphoric."
"I've been feeling something missing for so long. When I went to children's birthday parties, I would be a bit sad because I wanted to have my own family. "I feel grounded now, as if I've finally found my place."
Menounos shared his "crazy" story about the beginning of the surrogacy procedure.
"Two weeks before we implanted the embryos, Keven, Keven, and I were outside. I told him that it was do or die. [The surrogate, her husband, and their children] are flying [from Wisconsin to Los Angeles]. We will implant these embryos. We have to decide now if we do not think that this is the right thing for us. "All of a suddenly I hear rustling and a large stork flies from this tree across the road. I have the f---ing video!"
Menounos has also spoken out about her experience of being , diagnosed with a tumor in the pancreas earlier this year , and how it was "a nightmare." She is feeling "amazing" now.
The fibroid measured the same size as a newborn baby. "I have a C section scar, even though I've never given birth to a child -- I did it in a completely different way!" said Menounos.
"I have had many low moments. I've gotten a lot practice at overcoming them." She said that she was able to remain positive despite the difficult circumstances by removing herself from the victim mentality.
"Everyone asks, 'Why me?' "Why me?" is my mantra. This helps me to get through things quicker. I was lucky to have found this tumor early. Other people didn't. I focus more on the way I want to be than anything else. It's hard; it takes a while.
