Arleen Sörkin, the Days of Our Lives actress who inspired and was the original voice actor of Harley Quinn in Batman: The Animated Series has passed away at 67.
Arleen Quinn's original voice actor, Arleen Quinn, who was best known as the star of Days of Our Lives and for her work in Days of Our Lives has died at age 67 due to health complications.
Harley Quinn, unlike most other superheroes or supervillains in the comic book world, was created by Arleen Sorkin for Batman: The Animated Series in 1990. She was created for the popular 1990s animated series Batman The Animated Series by Days of Our Lives actress Arleen Sorkin.
Batman TASwriter Paul Dini said that seeing Sorkin dressed as a jester on Daysinspired to create the Harley character. It couldn't have come at a better time when she joined to bring Harley to life.
Sorkin's television career began on a daytime sudser in which she played Calliope, a character with humour. She appeared from 1984 to 1989. She brought the same comic energy into her work with Mark Hamill as the Joker in Batman: TAS.
Hamill paid tribute to Arleen Sorkin by posting a message to X, formerly Twitter. "Not only a great talent, but also a lovely person. I am grateful to her for having been my friend and colleague. "Sending my deepest condolences and love to her family & loved one."
Tara Strong, the voice actress who played Batgirl in the series, and also took on Harley's role for many projects following Sorkin’s retirement, credited her predecessor with the creation of the character.
She jumped onto X, aka Twitter, and wrote . "Without Harley Quinn, she would not have existed." She was the inspiration, the heart and soul of this iconic figure. As Batgirl, I was awestruck by her performance alongside Mark Hamill and Kevin. "Sending love to her family."
After Sorking's portrayal, the character was portrayed by a number of women, including Kaoco in the Harley Quinn animation series, Margot Robertbie in a few feature films, and Lady Gaga, in the upcoming The Joker: Folie a Deux.
Sorkin died less than one year after the death of Batman voice-actor Kevin Conroy, who was 66 on November 10, 2022.
James Gunn, DC's boss, was one of those who honored Sorkin and her legacy. He shared a message on Instagram saying, "Rest In Peace, Arleen Sorkin. The incredibly talented voice behind Harley Quinn. She helped create the character that so many of love. Love to her friends and family.
After the news broke of Sorkin’s death, fans flooded social media with tributes. Many shared some of her most memorable moments, and honored her legacy for creating one of the world's most beloved and popular comic characters, as well her other works.
