Marques Houston shares his -- brutally -- honest thoughts on why he has never liked dating women of his own age.

In an interview with Page Six the 41-year old R&B singer, whose wife Miya, is 19 years younger than him, explained that women of his age tend to have "baggage", and children. He called the latter a "red-flag" when looking for a partner.

"A woman with a child was always a red flag for me." "I have nothing against single women. But single mothers with kids are a big red flag to me," said the actor. "I respect and tip my hat to women who raise children alone. When I was a child, I didn't want to have children.

He continued, "I used to talk to my father a lot and he always told me to have my own children because you don't know what baby daddy is about." "If you want to have children, choose a woman who has never had any. That was my red flag, and also a woman who had an attitude. "I don't like women who have a funky attitude."

Houston, who welcomed his child with Miya, in 2021, added: "I'm 42, she is 22." I could have married a woman aged 44, but it would've been disastrous.

The "Sister, sister" alum said that women his age have "a different outlook on the world" and "are very independent," something he doesn't like.

"They're like, 'I can do it myself. I don't need to have a man do it for me.' Houston said, "I come from a family that loves to provide for their wives." There are a lot women my age that I have dated. They may be carrying baggage. They may or may not have children.

Miya, he says, "caught my attention" even though he has been with "so many women." Houston said, "Everything I prayed for - and everything I wanted in woman - she was there." "I'm still young in spirit, even though she was young."

Houston and Miya first met in 2018, after Miya became friends with Chris Stokes daughter Chrissy, the manager of the former. They were all attending a Jehovah’s Witness convention. The couple got engaged in March of 2019. Houston was 38 years old and Miya 19 years old. The couple will marry in August 2020.

Houston defended his relationship on Instagram after the two were criticized for their wage gap by social media in June 2020.

During a new interview with Page Six the star of "You Got Served", recalled the backlash he received from fans throughout the years.

Houston stated that "in the Immature era, we [would] use light-skinned women in our music videos." Then, people would ask... 'Why don't you have a black girl'? Then it's, "Oh yeah, only light-skinned women are my favorites." The plus-size girls are going to come after me. "I was like, ‘Man, I'm not getting a break.’"
