Mom's 911 Call, Police Bodycam Released In Trial of Woman Accused of Decapitating & Dismembering Lover

As the murder trial of Taylor Schabusiness begins, the victim's mom is heard telling responding officers that she "pretty sure" found her son's head "in a bucket."

A Wisconsin woman has started her trial for killing and dismembering her lover during a drug-fueled sexual romp.

Taylor Schabusiness, 25, is accused of first-degree intentional murder, mutilating corpses, and third degree sexual assault on Shad Thyrion (24), whose remains were found by his mother in February 2022.

The prosecution stated that during opening statements, Thyrion Pakanich's mother, Tara Pakanich experienced "basically a mom's worst nightmare", after discovering a horrifying discovery in her basement. Her son's dead head was in a bucket.

On Monday, as the prosecution called its first witness - a 911 dispatcher - to the stand, the 911 call made by Pakanich and boyfriend to authorities was played to the jury. The mother's partner says that she had woken up the man, and that she swore she found the severed head in the basement.

Around the 44:30 mark, you can hear a 911 call.

The boyfriend said, "I don't know what's going on," and that he had gone to see for himself, but that he couldn't "tell what the f---" it was because he could not see clearly. The boyfriend was insistent that there was "something in the goddam bucket." When asked if he believed she might be hallucinating he said no.

Pakanich called back and stated that she was "pretty sure" the head of her son is in a bucket. I looked into the bucket." She told dispatch she "had no idea" where his resting body was. Then, she said her son was staying with her at the time and had been hanging out with him. She told dispatch that she woke up when she heard the door close, and then a car start. Then, after noticing that the lights downstairs were on, and doing some investigating, noticed they were. She found the bucket when she noticed that the lights were on downstairs.

You're sure that it's not a fake or a dummy head? The dispatcher asked before the victim's mom said that she would "not touch it" and not "look at it again."

Green Bay Police Department officer Alex Wanish, who was on the scene at the time, testified Monday that there "was in fact a severed head in the bucket." The bodycam footage of him and Officer Ethan Plonke was shown to the jury. They arrived at the house, where the victim’s mother pointed out the bucket.

The footage begins at around the 1 hour mark. In it, the two men are seen using a flashlight to look into the bucket and determine that there is blood before calling for help. Wanish said, "we have quite a lot of blood here" when he requested more units.

During an initial sweep, he testified that he saw blood and "small pieces of human flesh". He also said that he wore gloves when he moved the towel from the bucket.

The first day of the trial has begun.

A criminal complaint states that authorities discovered an upper torso inside a storage bag.

Schabusiness was told by officers that she may have been his last living witness. They found dried blood on her clothes when they visited her house. When they searched a minivan for "additional body parts, including legs," they discovered a crockpot box. Schabusiness was asked by the police what had happened. She replied, "That's a good question."

She told investigators that she spent the entire day with the victim, smoking meth. They began having sex with chains after arriving at the mother's house.

She told authorities that she went "crazy", and began strangling him, facedown with her on top. She said she didn't intend to kill him but continued to choke him because she liked it. According to the complaint, she said that he started coughing blood and she noticed his turning purple. However, since she had "already come this far", she continued. According to the complaint, she asked detectives if they "knew what it felt like to love something that much you would kill it."

The complaint says that Schabusiness told the police they would have a lot of fun if she dismembered her body.

She told authorities that she had initially said all of the body parts were in the basement. However, when they asked what she had done with the head she replied that she placed it in a bucket, and covered it with a blanket. She allegedly also told detectives that she continued to sexually play with the body of her deceased husband after his death.

Law&Crime reported that Schabusiness' former lawyer, Quinn Jolly claimed she had been diagnosed with bipolar and was receiving mental health treatments since she was in seventh grade.

In February, Schabusiness attacked Jolly at court ( above). Jolly resigned from the case after the incident and Christopher Froelich took over.
