Paula Deen's Racist Remarks: What happened to her?

NEW YORK, NY - SEPTEMBER 23: TV personality/Chef Paula Deen visits the set of NBC's "Today" at the NBC's TODAY Show on September 23, 2014 in New York, New York.

Paula Deen was the racist who ruined her career before we had 'cancelculture' cancel culture. In 2013, the once-beloved chef was sued over racial discrimination. It rocked her empire. What have she done since? Let's find the answer.

A Quick Refresher

Deen was a Food Network early star. Paula’s Home Cooking was quickly followed by many other shows that focused on her southern style of cooking. She was also the author of many successful cookbooks and restaurants. She was one of the most famous chefs in the country by 2013.

The chickens returned home to roost. Lisa Jackson took Deen to court in 2013 for racial discrimination and sexual harassment. Deen was criticized for repeatedly using the N-word. Deen was also criticized for fantasizing about a "Southern Plantation-style" wedding in which black male servers would serve white guests. This is a tribute to American slavery. Later, the suit was thrown out.

Deen's career was severely hampered by racism, unlike many others. Deen was fired by QVC and Food Network. She also lost all sponsorships. Deen was shortened to Deen because of racist comments that were made to her, and now she is a joke.

What has she been up to?

Deen's life did not spiral out of control, contrary to popular belief. Her Food Network show was canceled, but her restaurants continued to be in business. Paula Deen's Family Kitchen was reopened earlier this year, so her restaurant empire did not go anywhere. She was also able to find a new publisher for her magazine and continues to distribute it. Paula Deen is easy to find.

Deen tried to make a mainstream return in 2015 by appearing on Dancing With The Stars. Deen made it to week 5, but lost to BindiIrwin. She hosts several syndicated shows on fledging networks, such as ShopHQ and Roku.

Another comeback

Deen will now attempt to make a mainstream comeback. Deen is returning to the series Masterchef alongside chef Gordon Ramsay. She will be joining the season, which is being christened Masterchef: Legends To help Ramsay award $250,000 for a home chef. Here's a clip of Bourdain in an old Ramsay restaurant. This was used to introduce Ramsay to a television audience. Deen’s latest stint on Masterchef She failed to stir much controversy so maybe she's back to stay.
