The IMDbtv drama is from the creators of the "I Know What You Did Last Spring" series.
It looks like "Cruel intentions" will get another chance at the small screen.
Amazon's IMDbtv platform is currently developing a reboot series of 1999's cult classic. Phoebe Fisher, Sara Goodman and the other writers of the "I Know What You Did Last Summer", new drama are behind it.
According to IMDb TV, the show revolves around two step-siblings who will do whatever it takes to keep their place at the top. In this case, they will be fighting for the Greek life hierarchy at a prestigious college in Washington, D.C. They will do anything to protect their power and reputations after a terrible hazing incident that threatens the whole Panhellenic system -- even seduce the daughter the vice president of the United States.
Neal Moritz, the producer, is also attached. This makes him the only link to the original movie.
As of now, there has not been any casting news regarding the IMDbtv new revival.
This announcement comes almost five years after NBC rejected another revival. The series was originally scheduled for a 2017 summer slot. However, it was cancelled in 2016 because of a full cast.
It wasn't the first series attempt, though. Fox attempted to create a prequel series in 1999 called "Manchester Prep". The three episodes were filmed but the show was cancelled. They were then edited into a direct to video movie called "Cruel Intentions 2", which was released in 2001.
In 2004, "Cruel Intentions 3," a sequel was made available as a direct to-video film.
