Robert Pattinson teases the 'Nihilistic Batman', and is Unrecognizable in Blonde and Bloody GQ covers

Pattinson said that 'The Batman' was 'by far, the most difficult thing I've ever had to do.

Robert Pattinson appears completely different for his GQ cover story. It seems that he and Matt Reeves have brought the same transformation to "The Batman," Warner Bros. latest version of the dark knight.

In the photoshoot that accompanied his latest profile, the actor transforms from brunette into a bloody and battered-blonde blonde. He also talks about what makes his Batman different from others.

"I saw a rough cut of this movie by myself, and the first shot was so jarring from other 'Batman’ movies that it's just kinda kinda a totally different pace," Reeves said. He also stated that Reeves had pitched the project to him for a "70s noir detective story."

It's clear that this is a detective story, right from the beginning. He continued, "I feel like an idiot because I didn’t know Batman was ‘the world’s greatest detective’; I had never heard it in my life before -- but I really enjoy it." He's just there because there's so much where he's amongst the cops. Normaly, Batman arrives at people and beats them up. He's talking to people, and they have emotional scenes that I don't believe were in any other movies.

Pattinson said that Batman and Bruce Wayne were "weirdos", while the movie had "a more nihilistic bent to it." Two years after Bruce's tenure, the movie is set. "Crime has gotten worse," Pattinson said. He compared Batman's fight on a subway platform with a werewolf attack.

It's a sad film. He said that it was about Bruce trying to find hope in himself and not just in the city. Bruce doesn't doubt his ability, he just questions the city for its ability to change. It's insane, I know. The only way I can survive is to dress up like a bat.

It took 18 months to make the movie, which was marred by injuries and the pandemic shutdown. Pattinson tested positive for Covid when it resumed. However, the actor said that the movie provided him with a welcome distraction from the pandemic.

"Everyone I know said that if you have some momentum in your career, or your life, and then it stops, you need to take a step back. I found that I was extremely busy, and doing something that was both very high-pressure, was the most difficult thing I have ever done. He explained that he was still Batman at the end, even though it might end. "But just in the off possibility that it does not end. Even if everything goes to pieces, I have to finish this thing!"

The film stars Zoe Kravitz and Colin Farrell, with Paul Dano in the lead roles.
