It's been 4 years since "Deadpool 2" was released, and Reynolds apparently has been working on this script for the same time!
Fans have waited for years for Ryan Reynold's "Deadpool," sequel. But, did you know that there was a complete Christmas movie script that has been sitting around for over four years? !
Big Issue spoke with the actor who championed a solo movie of the "Merc with a Mouth", for many years before finally bringing it to life in 2016's blockbuster "Deadpool".

Reynolds claims that he had partnered up with Rhett Reynolds and Paul Wernick to write the "DP" films. The light-hearted film was then relegated to obscurity for almost four years.
Reynolds explained that "it got lost in the Disney acquisition of Fox and it never got made." He said that he still would love to see "a song and dance number in a "Deadpool" movie. In 2019, Disney and Fox merged.
Reynolds and his team also released "Once Upon a Deadpool," a PG-13 version, at the same time that this script was being written.
Although it's not exactly the same, it does show that Reynolds was trying to make the association between Reynolds and the red-suited superhero and the holiday about the other guy wearing a red shirt. Marvel Comics certainly enjoyed Deadpool and the holidays throughout the years.
Reynolds expressed his excitement about the final script, saying that "maybe one day we will get to make that film." It's not a musical but it's a complete Deadpool Christmas movie. So one day."

Instead, he has been partnered up with the same cowriters on the third installment in the "Deadpool", which has the daunting task of transforming Deadpool's Fox Marvel universe into the Marvel Cinematic Universe proper. Hugh Jackman's Wolverine is also included.
The threequel, which is currently scheduled for release on November 8, 2024 by Disney, has been promised that the franchise's R rating will be maintained. Given that "Guardians of the Galaxy," a holiday special is being released, there's definitely room for this kind of fun in the MCU.
Now that the script is known by fans, it's likely that there will be a low roar until Kevin Feige acknowledges them.
"Deadpool", a huge franchise for Fox, was so exciting that Disney should not miss the opportunity to capitalize while it's still fresh.
The MCU is currently in transition with many of its OG stars leaving (or already having done so). So why not use Reynolds' enthusiasm for a blockbuster character to make a splash sooner than others?
