"If one my little children had died because someone had to get their pencil wet, that would make me mad."

Kody Brown, star of "Sister Wives", spoke out about his separation from his 18-year-old children, Gabe and Garrison (both of whom he shares with Janelle) on Sunday's "One on One" special.

His Covid protocols, a polygamist patriarch, caused a wedge between him (and most of his family) this past season. He was unable to see his children and Robyn together and he also isolated himself from his other children and wives. Kody made it difficult for Gabe to choose between his girlfriend and the rest of the family, which led to things getting particularly bad. Gabriel broke down crying as he described "the last time that I ever spoke to my dad."

Janelle, the mother of the boys, was asked about the protocol during the reunion special. Janelle said that the "boys feel as rejected" as the women and was as honest as possible. She said Kody had given Robyn and Robyn an "ultimatum" of apology, but Kody has not made "any effort" to be in the middle. She added, "He still acts like they need to get to him."

Kody maintained his position in an interview.

He exclaimed, "If one my little children had had to die because somebody had to get his pencil wet," "Do you understand? "If one of my children is killed, how difficult it would be for me to ever forgive the man who brought it home to me."

"Now, with those boys, I'm estranged, I can no longer have conversations with them," he said. He continued, "That's very sad," before sending a message directly into the camera. "Boys, I'm sorry. I was trying protect my family. I will do it differently next time and I am sorry."

Kody was later asked if making amends to the boys would help him heal the fractured relationship he had with Janelle, whom he "separated" later in the hour.

"Yes, they could probably reconcile. You have to realize that plural marriage can be a struggle. If I have a relationship where I have deep trust with my wife and we get along really well, it's because the couple communicated and worked together on the issues and did the right thing." he replied.

Robyn brought her children, who were with two adults (Gabriel and Garrison), into our home to ensure that they were fully compliant with our Covid agreement. Kody said that when they did not comply, they were allowed to leave the home. "That right is an expression of respect."
