"I can't even believe that it's already been a whole year. It's like nothing has changed since I first met him at a barbecue. Vogue reported that Rita, who proposed to Marvel's director, said: "It just feels good to be with my closest friend."

Rita Ora, and Taika waititi are opening up for the first time about their nuptials and sharing photos previously unseen from the ceremony.

Rita, 32 and Taika 47 revealed intimate details of their August 2022 wedding to the magazine, as well as reminiscing about the unconventional proposal and the wedding planning process.

In 2018, the couple met at Taika's home at a party. The two started dating a few more years later in 2021 when they were both shooting in Australia.

Last summer, Rita, a British pop singer, and Taika, a New Zealand filmmaker, got engaged in Palm Springs. Taika revealed that Rita proposed to him. He told Vogue that Rita proposed to him and he said yes immediately.

They revealed that their engagement was short and they married at their Los Angeles residence only a few months later. Rita and Taika thought it was "quite amusing" that rumors and reports about their nuptials spread all over.

It wasn't London or France as everyone said. Taika replied, "It was at our house in L.A., with a group of small friends." Rita agreed, adding,

Rita commented, "It was quite amusing to watch the stories that people created and to be able to keep them to ourselves." "I love that now we can share what actually happened - and on our anniversary no less!"

Taika revealed that only eight guests attended the small wedding, including Rita's sister Elena and his best friend who had flown in from New Zealand.

Rita looked stunning in a Tom Ford gown with Lorraine Schwartz jewels for her nuptials. Ford was described by the "For You" star as "one of my favourite designers of all times" and wearing it "was a real dream."

Rita said, "Because I hadn't planned it, I didn’t know if I would find the perfect dress in town. I took the chance and went to Tom Ford," Rita told Vogue. "They had it waiting for me with the veil in my size. No alterations were needed." It was almost like it was meant for me to be honest. "It made me so happy."

Rita and Taika reflect on their wedding, and the decision they made to keep it simple.

"I wore the pearls my mother wore to her wedding." Elena, my sister, placed the bracelet on my wrist. Rita remarked, "It was beautiful." "My sister walked down the aisle and it was really simple, blissful, calm, private and fun," Rita said.

Taika said, "It was lovely," before adding that "it was just close friends, and it wasn't too big." It was great to have it so simple, without the stress of table settings and other wedding-related things. "My daughters were there and they made it fun and easy. I think that's because we didn’t have to worry about caterers, late guests, or all the other moving parts."

Rita remembered, "I felt very peaceful." It was like a different day. "We just got dressed up and married."

The couple has been married a year and still feels like newlyweds.

It's still working!" Taika replied, "I can't imagine it's been an entire year." Rita responded, "Same." I can't imagine it's already been a whole year. It's like nothing has changed since I first met him at the BBQ. "It feels great to be with my best buddy."
