Video of Sam Taylor running away from his "trip-sitter" who is left in horror when his friend leaps out of the hallway window.

After surviving his "last journey ever," a San Diego man feels lucky to be alive.

Sam Taylor, 20, broke his pelvis, right wrist and ribs after he threw himself out of a Salt Lake City apartment window when he was 19. He blamed the incident on an unpleasant experience with salvia, a legal hallucinogenic.

In an interview with NBC 7 San Diego, he stated that he thought it would be a great idea to experience something else-worldly. "The room became black, and I looked at my friend and it looked as if it was melting."

The video above shows Taylor running away from his friend, who NBC stated was his "trip-sitter," or sober individual watching him during the trip. He ran out of his apartment, down a corridor, and out of a 60-foot window. As glass sprays everywhere, his friend watches in horror. Sam claims he doesn’t recall any of it.

Taylor said that he was given a 15% chance to survive when he arrived at the hospital. He can now move around using a wheelchair or a cane.

He said, "There was a time not too long ago when I thought I would never be able to walk again. So being able even to walk around today with my cane, it feels really great."

Taylor admitted that he had "tripped probably more than 100 times" over his five years using psychedelics. However, he said this was his last trip.
