The Queen’s Choice Of Brightly Colored Dress Wasn’t Just For Fashion

Many are recalling their favourite things about the monarch as the world mourns Queen Elizabeth's passing. Many people associate brightly-colored clothing with Queen Elizabeth. Did you know that there was a practical reason why the queen wore eye-catching colors so often?

Why the Queen Loved Brightly-Colored Accessories and Clothes

Queen Elizabeth was often seen in every color of the rainbow throughout her time in the spotlight. She matched her hats and bags with whatever brightly colored outfit she was wearing that day. Although some assume that Queen Elizabeth liked bright colors, Daisy McAndrew, a royal expert, says the monarch had a purpose for her fashion choices.

She explained that she is small and sometimes difficult to see. Therefore, her dressers decided years ago that brightly colored clothes would help people spot her. McAndrew shared the queen’s fashion motto, "You have to see to be believed."

McAndrew said, "In other words now, it's more about getting outside and doing the work, but it also lends itself to being seen literally wearing bright clothes." "And finally, I believe it's just personal preference... she loves all the matching caps and all of it."

Royal Expert: "The Queen has Always Been Aware She Needs to Stand Out"

Queen Elizabeth knew that people would line up to get a glimpse of her when they were actually there. It was further explained by Sophie, Countess, of Wessex in the documentary The King at 90.

She shared that "She must stand out in order for people to be capable of saying 'I saw Queen'." "Don't forget to remember that when she appears somewhere, there are crowds of two, three, four and five. It's not uncommon for someone to claim they saw a little bit of the Queen as she passed."

Caroline de Guitaut is a curator at the Royal Collection Trust. She said, "The Queen has always known that she must stand out from her crowd. It is because of this reason that millinery always played an important part in her wardrobe."
