The Voice Fifth Judge: Ariana Grande tells Kelly Clarkson Shut Up. She uses the Final Block

The Voice Fifth Judge: Ariana Grande tells Kelly Clarkson Shut Up. She uses the Final Block

The new Coach is ready to take the gloves off. Ariana gives up being nice and gets down to business. Plus, two former "American Idol" contestants, an unassuming mom, and a 13-year old vocal phenom blow away the panel.

The gloves were off for this episode of "The Voice", as Ariana Grande settled in to the non-stop verbal abuse that flows between Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson.

The dysfunction is now almost out of control. However, it's been interesting to see how Ariana's arrival has disrupted their normal flow. They are now trying to get the new kid on their team, or even conspiring against her.

DWTS 5th Judge: Which One Went Home First? Also, Cheryl's Positive Covid test and Tyra Banks' outfit. You can!

It has a lot to do with her popularity with artists and studio audiences. Finally, she took off her gloves and told Kelly to stop complaining at one point before going into full-on war mode with Blake. Then there was her Block, the final season's block -- which she used extremely well tonight.

Blake made a banner that he could pass through and made a dramatic entrance to the episode. This was a great episode that showcased the playful nature of early Blind Audition rounds, which makes this show so much fun to watch.

It does take away some of the amazing talent, but it makes the show more watchable, regardless of how talented the contestants. Tonight's episode features a pair of "American Idol” alums. A 13-year-old with an amazing gift and a mom who turned four chairs into her power -- only three were able to fight for her.

Fair warning: I will probably be harsher than my co-workers Kelly Clarkson and John Legend. To make it more fun, I will rank the performances in order of worst to best so that we can see which performers do better as the season progresses.

Will Smith confirms Jada wasn't the only one who had sexual relationships outside of their marriage

Jasmine Mills

(28 Springfield, VA – "It's so Hard to Say Goodbye Yesterday," Boyz II Men It was interesting to see how much Jasmine spent time in her lower register. However, when she tried to push herself a bit, there were a few missed notes that caused the chairs to move. Although she has a rich voice, there wasn't enough consistency to her delivery. She could stand alone if she improved her pitch. The song was compelling because of her interesting arrangement.

Result: No Chairs Turn

Bubba

(26. Buffalo, NY – "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You," Michael Bolton). Although a little inconsistent in execution and pitch, Bubba chose a very ambitious song to audition for the big "Voice". Although he has a great instrument, he was not great at this song. He needs to find the perfect song for his voice and style. Then he must be confident that he can do it every time until he is able to sing it in his sleep. He didn't have the right moment for this.

Result: No Chairs Turn

Joy Reunion

(39–42, Redlands CA - "Boondocks," Little Big Town). Although they had a country sound, we expected their harmonies to be more dynamic than they were. It would have been nice to show all three singers more than the two spotlights at each end. Although this band was a good choice for gigs, we doubt they will be able keep the show going unless they expand their repertoire and become more creative in their arrangements and harmonies.

ResultJohn Blake Turn (Team Blake).

Miguel and Nazanin Madi Quit After 17 Years Together

Lucas O'Reilly

(20. Newport, RI – "Carolina In My Mind," James Taylor). Lucas is a new singer. He only started singing two years ago out of necessity. You can see some of his experience in the way he tackled such a classic song by such a unique artist. While he sounded comfortable on this song, he didn't offer much else. He didn't really reveal much about himself as an artist. Ariana pointed out that he has a distinctive rasp that cuts the edges of his voice, and a sweet tone. However, it wasn't convincing enough overall.

Result: No Chairs Turn

Raquel Trinidad

(23. Miami, FL – "I Wish," Stevie Wonder). Raquel has been in the industry for some time, and was able to perform voiceover work on a Dora the Explorer movie. This film featured Shakira, a former "Voice Coach" and made it to the "American Idol" Top 20. Her stage presence was so confident that even the Coaches couldn’t see it, her vocals reflected this confidence. Stevie is a difficult artist to perform, and it was unexpected for a woman singing this song. She managed to manage the song's unique cadence and show some of her talent. Although we don't know if her performance is exciting enough, it's difficult to judge a song that's so different from the original.

Result:Kelly (John), Ariana Turns (Team Ariana).

Carson Peters

(17 Piney Flats, TN – "Tulsa Time," Don Williams). Known locally as "Fiddle Boy", Carson began playing guitar at age three and was soon on "The Tonight Show" where he played for Jay Leno. He met Steve Harvey and opened for Ricky Skaggs. Then RIcky got him onto the Grand Ole Opry stage. Carson did a 4-chair performance, which we didn't expect. However, it may have been the purity with the which he entered the wayback machine to find this country classic. He was so sincere and earnest in his performance. His voice has a touch of grit that is very interesting. It leaves you feeling good. His voice is sweet and gentle, making it easy to listen to.

Our favorite part about this whole scenario was John pretending he had a chance while Ariana didn’t bother pitch herself knowing she had zero chance. Kelly tried her best, but Carson chose the man with the most knowledge about the history of bluegrass and country music. This makes sense, considering Carson's passions.

Result: 4-Chair Turn (Team Blake)

Keilah Grace

(15. New York, NY – "Never Tear Us apart," INXS) We already loved the raw rock-and-roll energy that Keilahs' voice brings, and then she hits us with her tender closing notes, and we are sold. She is an exciting new artist who has a unique style that she can comfortably inhabit. She took a song that was popular in the 1980s and made it sound fresh like something she's releasing tomorrow. It's exciting to see such a young artist. She is who she is. She is a great singer with an amazing range.

ResultJohn, Ariana Turn (Team Legend).

Jeremy Rosado

(29 Tampa, FL – "Here Comes Goodbye," Rascal flatts) Jeremy was a winner on Season 11 of "American Idol", but he decided to return to his family. Jocelyn is Jeremy's uncle, even though he is only 11 years old. His mother took custody of Jocelyn when she was two years old after his sister had lost it. After he turned 22 and became an adult, he wanted to assume the responsibility of raising Jocelyn.

He walked onto the stage as if he knew that this was his biggest chance of success and would not let it go by. He was an artist at his best and this song was a showcase of his talents. Although the song was easily recognizable, it was not country. It was instead filtered through his personal experiences and style. We loved his opening lines, which were whispery and had a great storytelling element. This is the kind artist who draws you in and makes your heart sing for him, his story, and his talent.

Result:Kelly (Team Kelly).

Anderson Cooper Will Not Be Leaving Wyatt an Inheritance

Samara Brown

(32 Bronx NY - "Sweet Ting," Rufus). Samara's sister Amanda was a contestant on "The Voice" back in Season 3. Samara stood by Samara as she cheered her on. Now it's Samara who will be taking her shot in the dark. Ariana was so obsessed with it that she tried to use the final Block of the season against John, but he had already turned on her. It's amazing that Samara's voice is so powerful, no one else was able to get in the fight. She was a powerhouse with a tremendous range. She has a unique style and is a true artist. The song was cool and chilled, and she had her own rhythm that made the crowd sway.

Result: John, Ariana Turn (Team Legend)

Hailey Mia

(13 Clifton, NJ, "you broke me first," Tate McRae). We liked Hailey's gentle bent of the words to draw you in to the story. She has great voice power and range. It also has a very special character. It is even more surprising to see how young she is, to have an instrument this strong and to be able to use it effectively. If she proves herself to be coachable, she should not have any problems standing out. It was an amazing audition.

ResultKelly (Team Ariana).

Holly Forbes

(30 Catlettsburg KY - "Rocket Man," Elton John). Ariana was quick to pull the trigger to stop John and chose a great moment to do so. However, she might have been able to get an advantage over him because of her voice's power. Holly is a powerhouse. She reminded us with one note (that nearly knocked Ariana off her seat and left her in tears) from Keala Settle's "This Is Me," from "The Greatest Showman." It was full of the same raw power, determination, and grit. She sounded almost like an artist. She took Elton John, one of the most amazing artists, and made it her own. It was one the most impressive auditions of the season, and it is still among the best ever. We'll have to wait for Tuesday's show to find out which team she chose.
