These Musicians Are Famous: These Songs were Written about Other Celebs

"I was actually quite flattered to be truthful because it's been there forever."

Inspiration comes from all corners for musicians, especially those closest to them. There is always mystery about the inspiration behind a piece of music they release, regardless if it is a love song, or a diss track. Although most artists aren't open about the origins of the song, some have admitted that it was inspired by other celebrities.

These stars, from Miley Cyrus and Scarlett Johansson have had songs written about their lives -- some may surprise you!

Continue reading to learn more about the inspirations for these songs by famous celebrities!

1. You'll Be in My Heart" - Phil Collins

Phil Collins wrote a song as a lullaby to his daughter Lily Collins while he was working on "Tarzan". It is her dad's favorite song, she says.

"'You'll be in My Heart'" from 'Tarzan. When I was younger, it was a lullaby for me. As we grew up together watching Disney movies and shows, this was his way to be able to do the same for our kids. It was special," Lily stated on "Harry".

2. Katy Perry - "I Kissed a Girl"

Katy Perry revealed that her first single, "I Kissed A Girl", was about Scarlett Johansson. Although Scarlett Johansson was never actually her lover, Perry says she did see a photograph of Scarlett and realized she would if she had the chance. Scarlett later stated that the song was "flattering".

I was inspired to write "I Kissed a Girl" when I found a Scarlett Johansson picture in a magazine. I was there with my boyfriend, at the time. I told him that Scarlett Johansson would have a great time with me if she came into the room. I hope that you are okay with this. Katy said that Steppin' Out was okay.

3. "Cinderella" - Mac Miller

Some fans believed Ariana Grande was responsible for Mac Miller's downward spiral, which included a DUI, after their split. One fan even accused Ariana of dumping Mac after he wrote the "Divine Feminine", an album about her. Ariana was fed up with all the blame and speculation, and she clarified matters on Twitter. She explained that their relationship was "toxic" and that only one song on her album was about her.

Ariana tweeted, "How absurd that someone minimizes female self-respect & self-worth because he wrote an Album about them,"

4. Coldplay - "Fix You".

Coldplay's Chris Martin, the frontman of Coldplay, wrote "Fix You", a song he dedicated to his then-girlfriend Gwyneth Patrow after her father Bruce died. They met three weeks after Bruce's unfortunate death.

"Fix You" was his attempt to put me back together after the death of my father. Gwyneth stated that he thinks it's quite nice on "The Howard Stern Show."

5. 5.

Outkast's Andre 3000 wrote "Ms. Jackson", as an apology to Erykah Badu, and her mother, the real Ms. Jackson. Although Erykah was mixed about the song, she said that her mother loved it so much that she even had a Ms. Jackson license plate.

It hit a very sensitive spot. It was hard to hear, especially after I heard Big Boi’s verse. Andre's verse made me feel very happy. It was truly, really inspirational. Erykah stated that he simply spoke what he felt, and that it was his honest feelings.

6. Miley Cyrus - "7 Things"

Miley Cyrus famously wrote "7 Things", her first hit, about her split from Nick Jonas. Miley Cyrus wore Nick's dogtag and showed a sketched photo of Nick in the video. She also discussed the writing process in her autobiography, Miles to Go. Miley shared the following passage with Nick on the anniversary of the song's release. Although the JoBro claims he hasn't spoken to Miley about it, he knows that it is about him.

Miley has never said that to me, but she does have a dog tag I gave her as a 14-year-old [in the music video]. He said that he was actually quite flattered because the tag has been there for a while and that it is about him.

7. Jonas Brothers - "Wedding Bells".

Although Nick Jonas never explicitly stated that "Wedding Bells", the Jonas Brothers song, is about Miley Cyrus' engagement with Liam Hemsworth (although he did leave some clues in the song), One of the lyrics even refers to their previous anniversary as "11 Nights into June," which Miley said was the date they started dating in Miles to Go. Miley believes that the song is about herself.

"I don’t know who is getting married... It's just what I feel. As I mentioned, every person has to write songs about something they feel. He even said that it wasn't how I am. You can't hate someone for writing about something that you have experienced. You should know that you are being warned when you choose to date an artist or a writer. Miley said to Ryan Seacrest that you will hear about your emotions on the radio if you are going through difficult times.

8. "All Of Me" - John Legend

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend had been together for more than seven years before he wrote "All Of Me." He said that Chrissy's long-term relationship helped him to write a more genuine love song.

"The closer you get to someone, the more inspired you are by your relationship." Because I was never in love, I learned what it meant to fall in love as a teenager. John explained to LA Confidential that you must grow to be able write the song with authenticity and sincerity.

9. 9.

Ashlee Simpson's song "Boyfriend" was released a decade ago. She finally revealed that the song was about Lindsay Lohan, and her relationship to Wilmer Valderrama. Andy Cohen, host of "Watch What Happens Live," asked Andy Cohen if it was true that the lyrics were about Lindsay Lohan not stealing Wilmer Vallderrama's song "Boyfriend."

"Yeah. "I mean, I met him first and was not interested at that time in him. Ashlee stated that she was done.

10. Muse: "Madness"

Matt Bellamy, Muse's frontman, once said that "Madness" was inspired by his relationship to Kate Hudson. He also explained that he had a fight with Kate Hudson that forced him to visit her mom to ask forgiveness. He said that it was his favorite song he'd ever written.

"I wrote that song while having a fight. It's not anything extravagant, but it was just a moment where she leaves you to think about it. Metro spoke to Matt about how he rarely writes songs so cathartically.

11. 11.

Cody Simpson, Miley Cyrus's boyfriend, wrote a love song called "Golden Thing" for her to cheer up during tonsillitis surgery. Although he was initially reluctant to release the song, Miley encouraged him.

"She's forcing me to release a song that I wrote this week. "If you don’t put this song out, I’m going to get your Spotify login and do this s--- myself," Cody said to People.
