"I never imagined I would want to f--- Willy Wongka, but here we are."

Timothee Chalamet revealed his first glimpse of himself as Willy Wonka. Twitter also had a lot thoughts.

The actor posted two behind-the scenes photos of himself in costume while he played the role of the chocolateier in the movie musical "Wonka" on Sunday. This will be a prequel film to "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory".

Chalamet captioned the post with "The suspense in terrible, I hope that it will last... WONKA", referring to a famous quote by Gene Wilder, Willy Wonka, in the 1971 classic "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory".

The first photo shows the Oscar nominee at 25 wearing a Victorian-style outfit. It includes a maroon velvet jacket, a scarf featuring a bright print and a top hat made of chocolatebrown. The second photo showed Chalamet's hand, with a small gift box at the top.

Twitter went wild for Chalamet's first appearance as Wonka, and it became a popular topic on Sunday. Many people on Twitter expressed their opinions about Chalamet's costume and his portrayal of Wonka. It's safe to assume that there were mixed reviews.

Some people were happy to purchase their Golden Tickets, while others loved the "sexy young heartthrob"'s look. Others couldn't stop laughing at the costume.

People compared Chalamet's Wonka outfit to that worn by the Muppet Gonzo during "The Muppets Christmas Carol," where he was Charles Dickens, one of the most funny and hilarious reactions.

"Gonzo. I'm still unable to figure out why there is another Wonka that looks similar to Christmas Carol," one user tweeted. Another posted a photo of Chalamet’s Wonka alongside Gonzo’s Dickens and wrote, "Who wore this better?"

Others made fun of the costume.

Sam Greisman, the son of actress Sally Field, wrote that Willy Wonka's origin story was set in Williamsburg because it was a brave choice.

Another person said, "I would be happier with this story if it wasn't about the Willy Wonka origin story and instead was about Young Ian McKellen attending his first gay club."

Patton Oswalt and Ben Schwartz, comedians, joined the online conversation. They also added some NSFW jokes to the mix.

Schwartz tweeted "In this one Wonka F---s," Oswalt responded with a funny tweet, writing "Does Oswalt call condoms "gobstoppers"?"

Many people took to Twitter to highlight Chalamet's attractiveness. He's not bad to look at, after all. They also shared their opinions on Willy Wonka being "sexy".

"The sexification and abuse of willy willka must stop," wrote one person, while another said, "Oh jesus, now everyone is going to thirst over willy willka AGAIN!"

A user said, "I never thought I would want to f--- Willy Wongka but here we were."

Another joked, "timothee Chalamet Willy Wka is what happens to a Hollywood focus group trying to create a Tumblr sexyman."

"I don’t need a Willy Wonka movie with sexy young Willy Wonka." Another joker said, "Show me a wicked old, unstoppable Wonka on an unstoppable killing spree at his nursing home." "Taking down seniors right and left with poisoned Werthers, and booby-trapped pud cups."

Chalamet will play Willy Wonka's third role, after Wilder and Johnny Depp.

Many Twitter users responded to Chalamet's first photo as Wonka, sharing their opinion on who they think is the best actor. Many of these arguments seemed to be comparing Wilder’s classic version with Depp’s eccentric portrayal.

One user tweeted "I only recognize Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka," while another said, "Johnny Depp is still superior as Willy wonka."

"Anyone who says Johnny Depp is better Willy Wonka is wrong." It's all true. "It will ALWAYS Be Gene Wilder," another person said.

Chalamet is currently filming "Wonka" in Britain. Paul King, the director of "Paddington", is the film's producer. Warner Bros. acquired the rights to Wonka IP in 2016 from the Roald Dahl Estate.

Chalamet spoke to TIME Magazine about the project for their latest cover story. He has already recorded music for it. It's about celebrating being out of center and being OK. "With the stranger parts of yourself that don't quite fit in."

"Wonka", a new version, will be released March 17, 2023.
