He claimed it was consensual kidnap play.
A Utah teenager, who had been missing for five days, has been found alive.
After Madelyn Allen disappeared on December 13, her family and friends had been searching tirelessly for her. Police documents reveal that she was picked up by a man she had met through the messaging app Kik.
She was naked and covered with coal when she was found in the basement of a man, nearly 90 miles from her house.
Brent Brown, 39, claimed that the incident was part of a consensual child abduction role play. According to the Gephardt Daily, he was taken into custody and is facing multiple felonies, including obstruction and aggravated kidnapping. He is being held on suspicion of rape, object rape, and has not been formally charged.
Snow College security footage shows the student leaving her dorm at 9:20 pm on the night of 13th. Her roommates raised alarm when she didn't turn up the next morning.
Her parents got an alarming text message on their phone the next morning that read "I Love You"
Police say Brown allowed Brown to send the single text, before she took her phone.
According to the Salt Lake Tribune, a probable cause affidavit states that the man took the phone from the teenager and tied him up while he was working. He also took the wallet of the teen and threw it away when he realized police were looking for her.
It also stated that he "threatened" her by saying that if she left him or spoke about him to anyone, he would go after her family members and sister."
Investigators were able track the location and make a claim about the text to Loa, which is 87 miles away from her college. While searching Main St., 500 people lived there, they spotted a person wearing light-colored hair and a slight build looking out of a basement window.
The person "ran out" of view as they knocked at the door. The man who answered the door said he was alone and declined to allow officers to search the house. They returned with a warrant after obtaining permission from Brown's parents to search the home.
They found Madelyn Allen's Snow College ID inside. The teen was found hiding in a basement coal storage. The affidavit stated that she was completely naked and covered in coal to hide her identity.
Police also reported that they found a gun and clothes belonging to Allen in another part of the house. They also discovered three knives.
According to the affidavit, she told police that Brown raped her "many times per day" and that she did not want to have sex "with Brown." However, Brown knew her address and threatened her family so she refused to leave.
She claimed she was sitting next him when she heard about his disappearance. He told her that he had sent her cell phone to the Arizona/Mexico border so "nobody could find her". Later, he later said to her that he had stopped looking for her.
"We received the call, and [the chief of police] said that he had her. Jonathan Allen, her father, said that they fell to their knees during a news conference. We were overwhelmed with gratitude. The feelings we shared as we hugged each other couldn't be described.
Jacob Allen, her uncle, said that "the ordeal she has gone through is dangerously and traumatic, which we have just begun to understand." She is a fighter. She is now a survivor. We are thankful she is back with us so that she can recover.
Bradley Cook, Snow College president, spoke at the conference. He said, "It reminds me of some dangers. Particularly our young people who use the internet. It is important to be cautious. It is important to be vigilant in these types of interactions.
