Elliot Gould and Barbra Streisand met in 1961 during auditions for "I Can Get It For You Wholesale", a Broadway musical. Gould was eventually cast as the play's lead, but Barbra was less experienced on stage at the time. For Gould, it was love at first sight, and they were married shortly after, beginning a love affair that's been described as "iconic."

But after only six years, the couple separated. Gould has been pretty open about the circumstances that lead to their eventual divorce, even though Streisand refuses to talk about it much, leaving half of the story open to rumors and speculation.
