Meredith Vieira has been working in broadcast journalism for nearly 50 years. Having gotten her start in local news in the late ‘70s, Vieira quickly moved on to CBS News in the early ‘80s, then hopped over to ABC in the mid-‘90s before ultimately landing a coveted co-anchor spot on NBC's Today Show in 2006, opposite Matt Lauer.

From 2006 to 2011, Vieira and Lauer worked side by side on a daily basis. The pair seemed to get along great, but when Lauer was fired in 2017 following allegations of sexual misconduct, many wondered how his departure affected their relationship.
