10 Celebrities Who Launched Their Own Swimwear Lines

Celebrities spend a lot of time in swimsuits, no matter if they're on set or on a luxurious tropical vacation. These stars spend so much time in beachwear, it makes sense that they would like to design their own. Stars like Kim Kardashian and Emily Ratajkowski, who are bikini experts, have started their own collections and quickly became fan favorites.

1. Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian's first Skims swimwear line was launched in 2012. Although the line was initially well-received for its inclusiveness, some of Kim Kardashian's comments regarding it have raised eyebrows. Kim said that she wanted her fans to wear her swimwear to conceal their insecurity during an episode of "The Kardashians."

"I wanted it to look like Legos. It could look like this: If you want to cover up your arms, put that on. Wear that if you want to cover your legs. Kim said, "Like, everyone, pick and cover your insecurity."

Kim has yet to respond to the backlash against her comments.

2. Kylie Jenner

Kim's younger sister Kylie Jenner also designs swimsuits. She launched a collection of barely-there, brightly colored bikinis and one-pieces in 2021. Kim chose to have a broad range of coverage styles. Kylie, however, created a smaller collection that was less popular. The suits were too small and poorly made, according to some of the people who bought them. Kylie has not yet released any new collections but it seems like she might revamp the line in future.

3. Emily Ratajkowski

Emily Ratajkowski was raised on the coast and spends much of her time in a bikini, even as a model. It makes sense then that she has her swimwear line. Inamorata was launched by the social media star and model in 2017. It now offers clothing and intimates.

5. Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood, the founder of CALIA's athleisure line decided to venture into swimwear in 2019. After years of experimentation with swimwear, and discovering the type of suit that made her feel confident, Carrie Underwood decided to share this knowledge with others.

"I think of myself as running after my crazy children and being at hotel pool pools, wanting to be cute while not worrying about anything. 6. Candice Swanepoel

Since its launch in 2018, Candice Swanepoel, Victoria's Secret model, has made Tropic of C a celebrity favourite. Candice was on maternity leave after having her first child and the brand was born. The brand, which is inspired by nature, is now sold around the globe and aims to change the industry by using sustainable fabrics as well as recycling.

"Sustainability has always been a core part of my life. "I think that coming from Africa, and having grown up with such strong natural values, it's where inspiration comes...I had already imagined the brand's ethos and what it should look like...It's almost like having a third child," Candice shared with Forbes.

7. Alessandra Ambrosio

Alessandra Ambrosio and her best friends launched GAL Floripa in 2019, a lifestyle brand that focuses on swimwear. They spent over a year creating the perfect pieces for their initial collection. It included one-piece swimwear and bikinis. Alessandra has launched many GAL Floripa collections. Many of them are inspired by her hometown.

"We have always had this dream. Growing up on an island in the south of Brazil, Florianopolis was our home. Swimming was like our second skin. We were always wearing swimsuits to go from beach to beach and we always wished to own a bikini shop. It was our dream since we were 18, Ambrosio said to People.

8. Khloe Kardashian

Khloe Kardashian wanted to make the perfect pair of jeans when she started Good American. The brand now has many other categories, including swim. Khloe and the company took two years to perfect their swim line, but Khloe couldn’t be more thrilled when it finally launched.

"Swim was a popular category that we have been working on for almost two years. Finding swimwear that looks and feels good can be difficult. Khloe explained to People that this is precisely why we invested the time and resources in making this strong collection.

9. Kim Zolciak

Kim Zolciak, a "Real Housewives", star, launched her sustainable swimwear brand Salty K in 2020. Kim said that she has over 1000 bikinis and this helped her to learn about "fit fabrication and style." Kim said that she chose styles that were comfortable for a broad range of people, and would last many years.

"I want my daughters to be able wear my suits. I want someone my age to wear mine, and I also want someone 55 or older to still feel comfortable in my suits. This was my ultimate goal. In the past I have found suits that I could wear for one season. But then I thought, "Eh, this fabric isn't looking good in the sun." This line was the exact opposite. These suits should be available for women for many years. These suits are simple and fun. Kim spoke with People about the timeless nature of these designs.

10. Elizabeth Hurley

Elizabeth Hurley is well-known for her Instagram bikini photos. This makes perfect sense, considering that she has her own swimsuit brand since 2005. She claims she was inspired by her obsession with beachwear, which is a result of growing up in rainy England and not being able to wear swimsuits as often as she would like. She wants all women to look their best on the beach.

"I chose to go into beachwear because I was always obsessed with vacation clothes and because it's a place where women can look great or get it wrong. Elizabeth stated that she wanted to create resort collections that make women feel beautiful at all ages.
