11 Co-Stars Who Proved They Totally Had Each Other’s Backs

11 Co-Stars Who Proved They Totally Had Each Other’s Backs

"He was not only warm, generous, and kind but also very protective."

Co-stars can easily become family! It's not surprising that actors who spend months on end working together become close. When a cast member is in trouble, their co-stars are quick to show their support. These co-stars were there for each other, whether it was to support a casting decision or ensure that everyone is paid fairly.

These co-stars show how they support each other...

1. Robin Williams, Kirsten Dunst & Bradley Pierce

Robin Williams, who played "Jumanji", always ensured that Kirsten Dunst & Bradley Pierce received the best care and protection on set when they were child actors. Producers tried to make Kirsten Dunst and Bradley Pierce work more hours after a particularly "draining week" of filming despite it being against child labor laws. Robin stepped in when he "caught the wind" of the producers' plan to overwork children to save money.

He said: "No, we will not be doing extra time." Bradley told The Independent that you're letting everyone out and coming back next week. No one would have stood as he did for all the money that it would have cost. He was not only warm, generous, and kind but also very protective.

2. Tom Holland & Zendaya

Zendaya faced some racism after it was announced she would play MJ in Marvel's "Spider-Man". This was because she did not look like the other actresses that had played the role in the past. Tom Holland, her co-star who is now boyfriend, stood up for Zendaya and said that she was perfect for the role.

Zendaya knows from her experience on the set that everyone compliments everyone. Everyone here is so loving. Tom told Global Grind that he loves working at Marvel because everyone is so welcoming and kind. She has a huge following on Instagram, and most of them are for her. I think our generation is moving past the idea that you can't cast a person who's not of the correct race for a character, and other stuff. I believe we are breaking through this and changing it all. Z is perfect, she's powerful and strong-willed. It won't shake her in the least."

3. John Boyega and Kelly Marie Tran

Kelly Marie Tran, the first Asian American to play a leading role in "Star Wars", was not well received by fans. Her character Rose Tico had many of them expressing their dislike. Kelly Marie Tran received a lot of hateful messages despite Rose, who is a Resistance crew member and did nothing wrong in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi". John Boyega, Kelly Marie's co-star, spoke out in support of her amid the negative reactions.

John added, "To Star Wars fans who support us and put themselves in our shoes, we thank you." You know that there's a process. Thank you!

4. Melanie Lynskey and the "Yellowjackets' cast

Melanie Lynskey was body shamed by a member of the production crew when she first joined "Yellowjackets." They told her she had to lose weight at one point and that producers would hire a trainer for her.

They asked me: 'What are you planning to do? I'm certain the producers will find you a trainer. Melanie told Rolling Stone that they would love to assist you.

Melanie's co-stars Tawny cypress, Christina Ricci, and Juliette Lewis defended her and sent a letter to the "Yellowjackets", producers to ensure that this incident would never happen again.

5. Benedict Wong & Xochitl Gomez

Saudi Arabian censors demanded the removal of scenes featuring LGBTQ+ people from "Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness" after its release. The country banned the film from cinemas after Disney refused to take out any part of the film. Xochitl Gomez who played the lesbian superhero America Chavez received some backlash in response. She was fine with the fact that her name was "circled within hatred" but Benedict Wong, her co-star in the film, was not.

"It's just not right...All those trolls who are cowards don't even show their faces and should feel deep shame about what they do. Let's play nice. "Let's just enjoy...what are we representing," he stated during a media event. It's sad fans in this country will not get to see it yet. We are only doing what we can to represent the voiceless, and that is by radiating our representation. "And that's the only thing we can do - represent people to make them visible."

6. Emma Thompson & Hayley Atwell

Emma Thompson defended Hayley Atwell in 2008 after a producer said she should lose weight. Emma Thompson says that she intervened and warned the producer to stop mentioning it again if they did.

I told them that if you ever speak to her again about this, in any way, I would leave this photograph. This is something you should never do. What's going on is evil and getting worse. There are so many children, boys and girls, as well as actresses in their 30s who have anorexia. They don't eat... "Sometimes you have to speak out about certain subjects because they are so boring and endless," she said in Vanity Fair.

7. Don Cheadle & Brie Larson

Brie Larson is the victim of a lot unwarranted hate since joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A "body language specialist" once analyzed a Brie Larson interview and accused her to trying to "dominate them" in order to get accepted. Later, she even said that she gave Chris Hemsworth the "bedroom eye." Don Cheadle spoke up to defend Brie.

You should see my body language right now. Don's now-deleted Twitter messages contained some of the most hilarious things I have ever heard. "Brie tried to keep her ponytail in front of her, but her hair stylist was constantly flying over and fixing it. She is actually over-accommodating. Amazing."

8. Jessica Chastain & Octavia Spencer

Jessica Chastain has been fighting for equal pay in Hollywood since the early 1990s. When Jessica Chastain was cast with Octavia in a comedy, she discovered that there was an even greater pay disparity between Black women and white women. They decided to work together to make sure that Octavia received the same amount of money as her other co-stars.

"I love her, because she is walking the walk while talking the talk. She said: "Octavia we're gonna pay you on this film... You and I will be tied together." We are going to be favored nations and we will make the same thing. Fast forward last week. We're making five-times what we asked for," Octavia told a Sundance Film Festival Panel.

9. Elizabeth Olsen & Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett Johansson was involved in a legal battle with Disney after the release of the film "Black Widow". When she signed her contract, the film was not scheduled to be released simultaneously on Disney+, but due to the pandemic that changed. Scarlett claimed in her lawsuit that the digital release of the film was a breach of contract, and she lost millions because her compensation was heavily tied to box-office sales. Elizabeth Olsen showed her support for her Marvel co-star during the lawsuit.

Elizabeth told Vanity Fair, "I thought she was so tough. And literally, when I read this, I said, 'Good job, Scarlett'."

10. Queen Latifah and the "Living Single Cast"

Queen Latifah says that in the 1990s, the cast of "Living Single" was told to lose weight. She sent in a letter of refusal on behalf all four women explaining that they did not want to look like "someone else's idea of what we should look like."

We were all four women with four different types of bodies and needed to lose weight. It angered her and she was disheartened.

11. Chris Pratt & Bryce Dallas Howard

Bryce Dallas Howard joined the Jurassic films a decade before. The film industry had changed a lot. She signed a contract at the time that paid her less than Chris Pratt. Chris Pratt, who later learned of the discrepancy in pay, joined forces with her to fight against her unfair salary. Chris even offered to help with the negotiation.

"I will say that Chris and myself have discussed this, and whenever an opportunity arose to negotiate something that had not been done before, such as a game or ride, he told me that I didn't have to do anything. I'm going to do the whole negotiating. Bryce, you don't need to worry about it. We're going to be paid the exact same amount. And I love him for doing that. Bryce said, "I really do. I've earned more money for these kinds of things than for the film."
