"I ate a piece and my brain felt as if it was rebooting a computer."
It takes a lot to maintain a vegan diet! Although a complete elimination of animal products may have a positive impact on an individual's health and the environment, it is not for everyone. Some celebrities have found that a plant based diet is not for them. These celebrities decided that veganism was not for them, whether it had negative effects on the body or didn't suit their lifestyle.
Discover why celebrities have stopped being vegan.
1. Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus was a vegan for 6 years before she realized that she needed to add more foods to her diet to ensure her body functioned properly. She says that it wasn't easy to make the switch and that she cried for a "long time", but she has seen a huge change in her body.
She said, "I'm much more sharper now than I used to be and I think I was malnourished at one time."
2. Anne Hathaway
Anne Hathaway had been a vegan several years before she changed her mind while filming Interstellar. Hathaway explained that Matt Damon and she were having dinner at a Michelin star restaurant one evening, and Matt had agreed to eat what the chef chose to prepare. She explained that Matt Damon and her husband had joined them at a Michelin-starred restaurant one night, where Matt agreed to eat whatever the chef wanted to serve.
"So, I was the only vegan and the only chick. Everyone else just went with the flow." So I asked: 'Is the fish you serve local?' They replied: "Do you see the fjord?" Anne said that after eating a salmon, her brain felt like it was rebooting.
3. Ellen DeGeneres
Ellen DeGeneres had been a vegan eight years, but revealed in her Netflix special Relatable that she recently changed her diet restrictions. She didn't say why she changed her diet, but she did admit that she occasionally eats fish and eggs.
"I've been vegan for eight years, and I truly believe it's good for you." Ellen stated during her stand-up that she was happier and healthier than ever before. "But in the past year or so, for no particular reason at all, I began eating fish every now and then." I will eat the eggs of chickens that I know, if they are roaming in someone's yard and seem happy.
4. Kristen Bell
Kristen Bell was a vegetarian from the time she was a teenager, but she became vegan in 2012 after watching forks over knives. During her first pregnancy she felt she wasn't giving her body everything it needed, so she added more foods to her diet.
"During my first pregnancies, I worked and I felt that I needed more calories. I was aware of it. I believe being vegan is an excellent way to live, and it's great for the body. "I also think that it has a really positive effect on the environment," Kristen said on the today show.
Liam Hemsworth
Liam Hemsworth had been a vegan for a few years. While it went well at first, he started to have health problems. He said he thought it was because of the high levels of oxalates in his diet, which are found in spinach and nuts.
I felt fantastic in the first two years. My energy level was high. My body felt strong and my cardio was good. In February of last year, I felt really lethargic and low. He told Men's Health, "I got a kidneystone."
He said, "If it works for you, then keep doing it." You need to do a re-evaluation if you feel bad after something has changed.
6. Natalie Portman
Natalie Portman was a vegan for a long time, but she briefly became vegeterian when pregnant. She said that she listened her body, and she felt she should be eating dairy and eggs.
"I went back to vegetarianism when I got pregnant because I felt that I wanted it. In a radio interview, Natalie said that she listened to her body and ate dairy products and eggs. If you don't eat eggs, you can't eat regular bakery cookies or cakes, which can be a problem if that's what you want to eat. "I wanted eggs in the beginning, but then I got disgusted by them after a time."
Natalie returned to being vegan after giving birth.
7. Zooey Deschanel
Zooey deschanel was once a vegan, but her food sensitivities (including wheat and soy) have made it hard for her to remain vegan. She eats only vegan food when she is able to, and makes tasty vegan treats.
In the back of my head, I thought, "It will be easy to be vegan!" I don't eat that stuff. But I didn't know you had so few options at the end. Being a vegan who is gluten-free must be the hardest thing to do. She told Vulture, "I lasted about six months." At a certain stage, you have to say, "This is getting in the way of me living too much."
8. Jonathan Van Ness
Queer Eye Star Jonathan Van Ness, a vegan of about four years, realized that he had been doing it wrong and only to get approval from others.
"I was a vegan when I was between 22 and 26...First, I read The Skinny Bitch. This was a fantastic book. Then I realized that there were social and environmental implications. The real reason was that I wanted to be accepted and loved by men. I was convinced that I had to lose weight and be more skinnier.
9. Samuel L. Jackson
Samuel L. Jackson lost a lot weight when he first went vegan. This didn't help his career. He was told to gain weight if he wanted to be cast in the film Tarzan. He stopped his vegan diet and added protein to his diet.
Then they threatened me with dismissal from the Tarzan film if I did not gain 20lbs. I lost 40 pounds. So I went to eat, and now I am no longer a vegan. "I eat meat two to three days a week, and vegetarian food the remaining four," Samuel revealed.

Wendy Williams used to be a vegan, but she and her doctors changed their minds after experiencing a number of health problems. She shared a picture of a watermelon bowl on Instagram to update her fans about her diet.
Many still think I am vegan, vegetarian or gluten-free. I'm no longer one of them. My doctors say it works for ME, and I've also lost a lot of weight while socially separating," Wendy wrote on her now deleted Instagram account.

Derek Hough is always trying new things. He was once a vegan. He stuck to the vegan diet for six full weeks before deciding to eat more food, but with moderation.
"People said, 'Whoa! Is it hard to be a vegan?" No, it's not that hard. It's hard to avoid, especially if you live in Los Angeles. All food is vegan. Derek told people that it was fantastic. It was fantastic, but I discovered that if I crave something, like meat, I will eat it. But I do not eat it that often, and I'll admit that. "But for me, it's the greens...that give you energy."
