It is not easy to coordinate family time over the holidays. There are many moving parts, pressure to impress, holiday traffic, and many other factors.

It becomes a torture chamber when you add in the stress of pregnancy. One expecting mother tried to cancel her Christmas plans but was surprised when she received a rude surprise. Her husband was furious and demanded a handwritten apology.

Are You a Hostess with the Mostess?

Reddit user, the woman who shared her horror story, said that she works full-time, is six month pregnant and has a toddler. The husband, a 39 year-old man, works three nights a week in night shifts.

She explained to her husband that she has a large family who gather every Christmas. Her husband offered to host the holiday celebrations after her father-in law died.

The woman said, "Unbeknownstto me, he sent invitations for a 5-day Christmas celebration to all of his family which is approximately 26 members in total," "I discovered this by accident and was too shocked not to react."

The woman was not comfortable cooking, cleaning and hosting 26 people over a week, on top of her child care and work duties. However, the husband was far from empathetic.

"I asked him to cancel, but he refused and said 'over my deceased body'," she wrote. She sent a mass message cancelling the event. "He went on about me, calling my behavior shockingly appalling."

She continued, "He said I broke his promise to his family and made he look small and without authority."

Disrespectful Or Justified?

Although he felt like the new head, the husband expected his wife to continue the wheel turning during the week-long visit. He reacted to this irony by accusing his wife of being disrespectful.

She said, "He spoke about how I disrespected his dad and what I said to him." "He demanded a handwritten apology for cancelling the event and for being insensitive."

He also asked his wife to apologise for "undermining" his authority in front his family. The MIL also joined the fray, giving the woman a "stern talk" about how disrespectful I was for my husband's decisions (double yikes).

Even if the husband offered to cook, clean, and cater the event (he didn’t), the woman in her third trimester is the one who was not treated well. It's hard to imagine 26 people living in a small home for one week.

Reddit users and I hope that she does not apologize. One user commented, "Is he delusional? A written apology? Is that what you are doing, his servant? ...that's repulsive."

Another user shared some excellent advice regarding the handwritten letter that was requested by the husband. "I'm sorry, I didn't notice you were a misogynistic ****** sooner. It's a pity that I didn't make the correction sooner. These are divorcing papers. These are divorce papers.
