Following a controversial Instagram photo, Adriana Lima Model has received a lot of backlash. Lima was accused in a recent Instagram photo of cultural appropriation. Many commenters also noted that Lima looked terrible.

Adriana Lima Under Fire For Hairstyle

Adriana Lima is both in hot water as well as the subject of ridicule after she posted a photo to Instagram. Lima is wearing a white blazer that has no visible top underneath. Many critics love Lima's bold eye makeup, but her caption and hairstyle are what many have reacted to.

Lima captioned, "Bringing a bit of my urban/chic spirit into life this am," and then gave credit to her crew for their help with her hair, makeup, and styling. The artistic direction was then given to Lima. This caption and the fact that Lima had her hair styled in cornrows got people talking. Lima's cornrows could be real hair or a wig. They also have "baby hairs" that run down her forehead along the hairline.

The comments were quick and unforgiving

Although there were some compliments, the majority of comments were negative. One woman asked, "Adriana what is an Urban Spirit?" She was probably referring to Lima's apparent inspiration from Black beauty and fashion trends. The phrase "urban" is frequently used as a synonym.

Others focused on both the quality of the image and the implications that the caption had. "What's the deal? Low-quality, baggy wigs? Braided hair? Another commenter suggested that you were referred to as "creative direction" and called this "urban '..... big missed". Another commenter asked Lima why she didn't hire an African hairstylist. Lima was clearly inspired by Black fashion.

Shemar Moore is being compared to her

Another commenter said, "It is the cultural appropriation to me." This does not do anyone any good." A surprising comparison was made again and again by many Twitter commenters. They said that the Brazilian-born model looked a lot like Shemar Moore.

You may recall that Shemar Moore wore an unbroided wig to play the role of a Mad Black Woman in Tyler Perry's diary Of A Mad Black Woman . This look was widely criticized by almost everyone who saw it.

Lima previously spoke out about her mixed-race heritage. She is a Brazilian-born woman who hails from Brazil's melting pot. She lists African, Japanese and Portuguese as her ethnicities. Although her hair looks a little messy, it is unfair to accuse her of taking over a culture she claims to be her own.
