Alfonso Ribeiro, co-host of "Dancing with the Stars", and his wife Angela shared a heartbreaking photo of their daughter now four years old in the aftermath of an accident on a scooter that required surgery.

It was a scary start to any weekend and a terrible way to spend your birthday. Alfonso Ribeiro’s daughter had to say goodbye to her three children after an accident on a scooter.

The "Dancing with the Stars' co-host posted a picture of his daughter Ava, taken Friday while the family was hospitalized. She turned four years old on Saturday.

Alfonso wrote, "Not the type of day you would want just before turning four," on his Instagram. "I just want to thank @kareskinmd heartily for the emergency services and procedures to help reduce the likelihood of scarring."

He ended his message by praising his daughter: "I am so proud of the bravery my baby girl showed during her surgery."

Angela, Alfonso’s wife, posted the same photo to Instagram. She added some details per ET. She said that she "crashed" off of a scooter. Angela thanked the doctor, calling her daughter a "trooper."

The Daily Mail reported that she also said that the day after the accident, she had a "vision/motherly instinct" that Ava was going to end up in the ER. She took her intuition so seriously that she forbade people from "doing something crazy or dangerous" today with Ava.

When I spoke these words, everyone literally locked eyes with me. "Sadly, I was soon forgotten," she said.

Angela ended her message by saying, "Giving that sweet girl extra cuddles this evening." Angela posted a picture of Ava in a cute pink floral dress enjoying Swedish pancakes. She looked like she was doing well.

Alfonso, Angela, and Ava also have two sons, Alfonso Lincoln and Anders Reyn. Alfonso has a daughter Sienna (20) with his ex-wife Robin Stapler.
