Despite viral video that many thought was the exact opposite, Ben Affleck claims he had a great time at the 2023 Grammy Awards.

The actor quickly became a viral sensation, and quickly became a social media meme. CBS cameras captured Affleck watching Jennifer Lopez and her Oscar-winning husband on stage at various points during the show. Affleck appeared to be looking bored, sad, or even miserable. Fans quickly posted photos of Affleck's expressions online. Some even believed it was a fight.

He was asked if he thought the memes in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

"That's a husband and wife thing. Some of it is, and I'm like, "All right, who's this act?" I can't keep up. He added, "My wife does, evidently."

Although Affleck stated that he had been to events and "been pissed off", "bored", and "drunk" before, some people speculated that Affleck was drunk at major events.

"I thought, that's interesting. This raises the question of whether it is wise to admit addiction. "There is a lot compassion, but there is still an enormous stigma, which can be quite inhibiting," he stated about his suggestion that he had been drinking. It discourages people from improving their lives.

Although that is a drawback to his openness about his alcoholism, Affleck said that he does get calls from people seeking help and that it makes him feel good.

He said that the big secret of 12-step is that they want you help others because it actually helps them more. "And often, what I will say to people is that I would not allow [your addiction] to come out if it were me. You don't have to be the poster child for anyone. You don't have to tell anyone. This is why you will find two words at the front of this book. Both are equally important: Alcoholics Anonymous. It's anonymous.
