Bindi Irwin is finally addressing the chronic health condition that has plagued her for the last decade.
The "Crikey" star is 24 years old! The It's The Irwins star, 24, revealed that she had been diagnosed with endometriosis. Endometriosis refers to a condition in which uterine tissue develops outside the uterus, which can lead to extreme cramping or chronic pain.
Bindi shared a photo of herself in hospital and addressed any concerns she had. She also discussed her diagnosis and acknowledged her responsibility for sharing her story with others who might be facing the same challenges.
In her Instagram post, she wrote that for 10 years I have struggled with insurmountable fatigue and pain. It has been difficult to stay positive and hide the pain. The last 10 years have been filled with many tests, doctor visits, scans, and so forth.
Irwin shared how almost she gave up when a doctor said her pain was due to normal menstrual cramps.
She confessed that a doctor had told her it was just something women deal with. I didn't have the answers I was looking for until @lesliemosier, a friend, helped me to regain my life. I had to have surgery to treat endometriosis.
Although the thought of having to undergo surgery was frightening, the animal conservationist realized she could not live with constant pain. After a series of tests, doctors found "37 lesions", some of which were very deep and difficult to remove. Also, there was a chocolate cyst.
Irwin said that her doctor asked her how she lived with so much pain. Irwin said that her doctor asked her "How do you live with this much pain?"
Television personality thanked her family and friends for helping her find answers to her 10 years of pain.
She continued, "I'm on a road to recovery & I feel overwhelming gratitude." To those who are questioning my cancelled plans, unanswered emails & absence, I have been pouring all of my energy into our daughter and family.
Things may appear fine from the outside, but that's not always the case. Be gentle and pause before you ask me (or any other woman) when we will have more children. Irwin shared her gratitude for Grace Warrior, her daughter with Chandler Powell. She feels like our family is a miracle.
