The dramatic scene was captured by a woman who began filming it when the driver in front of her, later cited for DUI, started driving "outof control".
After witnessing an accident involving a single car in California at 1 AM on Sunday, good Samaritans stepped up to help.
Regina Jones was nervous about her car's "out of control" driving in front of her family, on Rosemead's 10 freeway. She pulled out her smartphone and began filming. Her family saw the driver crash headfirst into an overpass that separated the freeway from a bus lane before it flipped over and stopped on its side.
Jones' husband, Jones, can be heard saying "Oh s ---, They're gonna Hit the Rail," before the driver does exactly that. You have to help them. You have to get out there and help them. Jones said, "We gotta get out there and help them," after he had heard Jones worry that anyone inside would be killed in the wake of the "terrible" accident.
The husband, along with others, pulled over on the side of the freeway and ran up to the SUV to assist the couple trapped inside. The driver tried to open his door, which was now on the ground and the vehicle lay on its passenger side. He screamed "Help!"
You could hear him exclaiming "Please help my father!" He could also be heard saying, "Please help my dad!" and "It's all my fault, sorry!" Over and over.
Everyone tried to help the two passengers trapped inside the car, but they couldn't get it off their sides. As the group was being assisted by the blue-clad woman in a blue gown, at one point there were 10 people trying their best to help. The driver was eventually pulled from her vehicle. First responders arrived to assist with the rescue and provide medical treatment.
According to ABC7, the driver was cited by The California Highway Patrol for DUI and taken to a hospital.
Jones stated that Jones was also adamant that if we hadn't been paying more attention, we would all have been hurt.
She said, "It is very important to pay attention what's happening in front of you especially during holidays." "There are many things happening and people don't pay attention, which is why there are so many accidents."
