Cellphone video captures the officer shooting at the car leaving.
According to her family, a school safety officer had shot a mother of 18 years in the head.
Mona Rodriguez, a mother of a 5-month old son, was driving away from a fight with a girl aged 15 when an officer opened fire. Rodriguez was sitting in the passenger seat. Rafeul Chowdhury (the 20-year old father of her child) and his 16 year-old brother were also present in the vehicle at the time. Both males were not hurt.

The incident, which took place near Millikan High school in Long Beach, Monday afternoon, was recorded by a witness using a cellphone camera and obtained by KTLA. It appears to show an officer approaching the car's passenger side window.
Two shots are fired at the vehicle as it speeds past him when the car suddenly turns right.
"He has his gun!" The witness can be heard exclaiming. "No!" Get down!" She screams when the shots ring.
Rodriguez is being investigated by police for possible involvement in a fight between Rodriguez and another girl, Palo Verde Avenue and Spring Street. Chowdhury claims that an officer witnessed the fight and threatened to pepper spray the girls if they didn’t stop. Chowdhury said that the officer did not give any further warnings.
He said, "All we did was get in the car and leave." "He never said to us to stop soon and the way that he shot us was not right.
According to school authorities, the officer was placed on administrative leave while an investigation is conducted. Investigators were told by the unidentified officer that Rodriguez had assaulted the 15-year old girl.
Najee Ali, a civil rights activist, called for the arrest of the officer on Wednesday as she spoke alongside the Rodriguez family.
"There is no reason, no justification that this officer should have opened the rear passenger window of a car carrying a woman unarmed." He stated that everyone in the car was not armed." "And the truth is that he shot at someone sitting in the passenger seat without regard for any life in the car."
Rodriguez's family claims she is brain dead and has no chance of recovery. Rodriguez is currently being held on life support until her loved ones can say goodbye.
Her tearful boyfriend stated, "Today, I just want justice to my girl, baby momma and my love of mine that I lost, which I can't ever get back," "I don’t know what I should tell my five-month old son.
He stated that he had been trying to have a baby with his girlfriend for some time.
He said, "And now she's gone and now we do." "I have to take the mother-father role now, and keep my son strong," he said.
A GoFundMe was set up to assist the family. "Mona is leaving behind 4 brothers and her sister, but she's most important leaving behind her baby boy Isael, 5 months old, at home," said Mona.
"She was intelligent, beautiful, and loving. Anyone who knew her well knew how big her heart was, how full she lived life and how much she loved her children, but especially her son, who was her whole life, pride, and joy.
"Mona I promise you we wont let your son forget you. We will always remind him about you every day and tell him how much he means the world to us.
Jill Baker, Long Beach Unified Superintendent, stated to KTLA that the district's school security officers are "highly trained" and held accountable for adhering to established standards. The officer in question will be evaluated against these standards during the investigation.
