Upton Proposed To Blanchett After Three Weeks Of Dating

Blanchett's and Upton's relationship started out as a nightmare, even though they have been together since 1997. They were not really attracted to each other when they first met. According to the Daily Mail in 2013, Blanchett spoke with Jay Leno and said that they met on the set in 1996. She thought he was arrogant and she thought he was aloof. It wasn't a bad start.

The actress stated that they didn't connect because they were going out with others, with whom we are still friends, and it was always an issue whenever the four of them went out that Andrew or I had something going on.

They met while playing poker, and Upton was talking about Blanchett's friend when suddenly, they started to kiss. This was when things heated up.

Blanchett shared her feelings with Ellen Degeneres, who hosted the Ellen show. She said that she had only spent three days with Upton before she decided she wanted to marry him. The Oscar-winner and her husband started a family quickly and now have six beautiful children. In December 2001, the couple welcomed their first child, Dashiell John Upton. Roman Robert followed in 2004 and Ignatius Martin Upton in 2008.
