Peoplemagazine says that Noth met Tara Wilson while she was working at the Cutting Room in New York City, a bar and lounge owned By Noth. The pair met despite Wilson being 27 years older than Noth. They began dating, though they did face some difficulties at the beginning. In a 2008 interview with Maclean's, Wilson said that at the beginning they broke up every two to three weeks. Then it was every two to three months. It was then every six months.

Noth said in the same interview that "we'd breakup so often and I would be like, "That's all!" It's over! Then, a few weeks later, I would be like, "Why am I missing my wife so much?" He said, "Get over it Goddammit!"

Noth was 58 years old and Wilson was 31 when they finally tied the knot in 2012. The couple, who had been together for many years, were married in a private ceremony on Maui. It was kept away from the prying eyes and cameras of the paparazzi. "We kept that marriage real tight," Noth stated in a 2013 interview with Wall Street Journal . "I was amazed it got out, it wasn't in a remote place, we didn’t tell anyone."

The Sex and the City actor were unable to capture a photo despite their efforts. He explained that "We did pretty well," and that a photographer from the National Enquirer I believe climbed up a tree two miles away to get a shot. It was quiet, which I liked.

Four years prior to becoming married, Wilson and Noth had their first child together in January 2008. He was named Orion. Noth, 53 years old, was thrilled to be a father for the first time. He told People that it was very satisfying and very inspiring to be with him.

Noth admitted, however, that his son grew older and it was more important for him to keep himself fit. In a 2016 interview, Noth said that he was throwing his son around on the bed when he pulled a muscle in his back. He loves to be thrown about, but he isn't as light as he once was. I lifted him and threw him onto the bed. He is a great inspiration to me to go to the gym.

Noth made a joke about needing to go back to the gym after he revealed that Wilson was pregnant in 2019. In an Instagram post, he joked that Orion was becoming a brother and that he needed to get in shape.

Noth, Wilson and Orion, 12 years old, welcomed Keats into this world in February 2020. "Down from heaven comes our second son- Keats!" "A thing of beauty can be a joy for ever," Noth said on Instagram.
