What's the latest trend in celebrities taking "normal" jobs?

David Letterman has been spotted at a grocery in Iowa this weekend... only a few days since Lana Del Rey grabbed headlines in Alabama for working at Waffle House.

In photos and videos from the Hy-Vee store, the former late-night host is seen wearing an apron with a nametag and testing his skills at different departments.

You never know who'll be in the aisles of Hy-Vee," reads a post on HyVee's page. "Thanks for dropping by, David Letterman!"

Letterman posted a clip to his Instagram that documented his visit to Hy-Vee on the same day. Letterman revealed in the video that he spent "a considerable portion of my life" in an Indianapolis grocery store. It was one of the last independent-owned grocery stores, and he loved it.

Letterman joked, "I would love to give back to the marketing world, but I'm short on time."

Letterman is seen in the video walking the aisles of the supermarket, bagging groceries and making announcements over the loudspeaker. He also drinks minestrone straight from the can, and tells customers that celery is free today.

Letterman's Instagram posting revealed that he is one of the owners RLL Racing, and Hy-Vee Number 45 Car. 45 Car raced at the Hy-Vee indycar race this past weekend.

This appearance follows shortly after Lana Del Rey, who was spotted -- in an even more random -- working a Waffle House shift in Florence, Alabama, which confused fans. The "Blue Jeans' singer had her own uniform, and a "Lana", name tag while she was working.

It's possible that this act is linked to her song Paris Texas, in which she sings: "I took a bus to Spain with just a notebook on my hand/Then, I went down to Florence, Alabama to visit some of my friends."

This song is from her latest album, Did You Know There's A Tunnel Under Ocean Boulevard,which was released in March this year.

AL.com reported that they had asked local studios if Lana was recording but were told it wasn't possible.
