The driver drove straight through a cul de sac to the canal.

After a Cape Coral police officer intervened to save a woman from her sinking car, the woman is now safe.

After the woman was seen driving her car into a neighborhood cul de sac, crossing the curb, and stopping before proceeding straight into the canal at its end, the incident occurred around 3:00 AM on Tuesday morning.

According to NBC 2, witnesses claimed that the woman's boyfriend told her she called him before calling 9-1-1 when she was trapped in her car.

The scene was captured on police bodycam footage. One officer asked another for their baton and directed them to point a light at the car that was sinking. After this, they instructed the other officer to jump into the water to rescue the woman. You can hear her screaming from the vehicle.

He breaks the driver's window with the baton and tells her to "Try getting out", before pulling her from her car. As she continues to weep on the embankment while cops inquire if there is anyone else in the car, the officers ask her if they have any other information. "No, there isn't anyone else in the car except me. She replies, "It's only me," before exclaiming, “My car!”

One of the officers told her that it was just a car. She said she wasn't hurt but she was "just scared."

"Without hesitation Officer Kwesi John jumped into the canal and busted out his driver's side window. He then rescued the female from her sinking car," Cape Coral police stated in a Facebook statement. This amazing rescue is worth watching! Officer Johnson is truly a hero in blue.
