Levy stated, "The American Pie thing became a bit tedious," before going on about his Schitts Creek fame.
Eugene Levy claims that his role in American Pie saw him repeatedly being pranked over the years.
76-year old "Schitts Creek" star spoke out about being recognized for her raunchy series during a Q&A session with the Guardian.
He explained that the American Pie tradition became a bit repetitive. People would bring me apple pie whenever I went to a restaurant or to a reception. It was funny, but it happened quite often.
He says that Emmy-winning "Schitt's Creek", which he won, is all anyone "all around the world" wants to talk. "American Pie" is mostly forgotten.
In the interview, he also recalled the experience of making the sitcom as an all-family project. Eugene and Dan Levy co-created the series, while his daughter Twyla Sands played the role. Fred produced the show.
He admitted that it was one of the greatest joys in his life to be able to spend time with his children every day. I used to envy friends who were in different professions, such as lawyers whose sons went to law school or doctors whose children became doctors. It was an exciting experience for me.
Eugene and Dan made history in 2020 when "Schitt's Creek” won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series.
He said, "We're record-breakers" about the proud moment.
"I'm glad that we didn't win all the awards in our first or 2nd seasons. It's dangerous to do that. It was much more satisfying to do everything in the final year when everyone had seen all seasons and understood what we were trying," Levy said.
