They worried about Brian's welfare, not knowing he was returning alone.

Brian Laundrie might be the only person of interest in Gabby Petito's case, but it was his parents who faced a lot more ire on Tuesday's Dr. Phil.

Gabby's stepdad and mom Nichole Schmidt and Tara Petito, along with dad and stepmom Joe, and Richard Stafford, were interviewed. They harshly criticised Chris and Roberta Laundrie for their silence.

Nichole stated, "It's frustrating," and revealed that she does not know for certain if Brian drove the van back from Florida. However, Nichole pointed out, "The van had got there somehow."

Joe said, "The van got there and what happened to his parents afterwards, I don’t know." Gabby's mom stated that "we can only speculate, and we don't know."

Her father added, "I honestly don’t know -- and to tell you the truth, they probably wouldn’t tell it to start with."

All four parents claimed that they called Brian's parents multiple times and texted them several times, but never received an answer. "Nothing. "No response. They said they had left voicemails. They didn't know where Joe was, so Joe told them to call the police.

Joe stated, "A normal parent would text someone to tell them you're going to call the cops because your child isn't found." "No response, nothing."

Nichole revealed that she believed Brian and Gabby had disappeared together and was concerned for them both. However, Nichole did not learn that Brian had returned home to her without her knowledge until the 11th September when police informed her.

Nichole stated that they didn't even know the van was in Florida when they contacted Brian's mom. "I was worried that I hadn't heard anything from her. "I didn't know anything about the van until the eleventh."

Joe stated that Joe thought they were missing at the time we called them. Nichole said, "I was concerned about them both."

Gabby disappeared on the night of the 11th. That was when she realized it was "bad, terrible news". "A detective came to my house and informed me that the van was in Florida," she said. She said.

Stafford also mentioned another dark omen: Brian "requested a lawyer and refused to talk to the police department."

Joe, however, believes that Brian wasn't the right decision and is once more in the crosshairs of the parents.

"To be completely honest, we don’t know if he did this. He said that this was what his parents did. He said, "That's exactly what they did. They had papers at their door and handed them to anyone who knocked: 'Talk to an attorney.'

He said, "It's not how I parent." "I'm a dad. I force my children to make their own decisions. If they make a mistake, I will help them, I'll guide you along the way.

"But, you're going be honest about your mistakes. That's what a parent does. They are not doing what they should. "I'm sorry."
