Prince Harry, Meghan Markle were married in a fairytale ceremony in 2018. However, not all of those involved were as happy as the royal couple. IdrisElba shared his thoughts about the day with us recently.

The actor is close to Harry and Meghan, and they asked him to DJ their wedding reception. Stress could have been caused by the large guest list, which included Oprah Winfrey, the Queen, and Elton John.

Idris Elba's DJ Gig Was a Big, Big Deal'

Elba was asked by the Daily Mail which gig has been most stressful. He replied, "The [royal] marriage, no doubt." It wasn't like my cousins' wedding... The reception was at the community hall, but this was a huge, big deal."

He said that he wanted to make the Duke and Duchess happy: "They are good friends, and I wanted them to have a great time. So there was a lot pressure."

Other ties are also maintained by the Thorstar to the royal family. He was awarded an OBE in 2016 for his contributions to drama. OBE is Officer of the Most Excellent Order of British Empire. It is awarded to individuals who have played a significant role in the local community of any activity, such as charity, business, or public sector, by Queen Elizabeth.

Markle relieved some of the pressure on the Lutherstar, by sending him a playlist with songs she and Prince Harry would like to hear at the reception. Elba did not share the playlist but it is safe to assume that there was electronic and house music. Harry has already expressed his love for this genre.

However, we do know the song to which the couple first danced: Whitney Houston's 1987 smash "I Wanna Dance With Somebody".

The Star-Studded Reception

Elba was not the only celebrity who helped make the couple's day special. Actor and host of The Late Late ShowJames Corden was also present at the wedding reception, dressed as Henry VIII.

George Clooney, a wedding guest, even helped out by hopping behind the bar and making drinks for guests.

Although the actor was nervous, the song selections were loved by the guests. According to People, it was a big dance party. Everyone was having a lot of fun and everyone had a great time." It was a great night, and it wasn't stuffy.

Elba and Sabrina Dhowre were married one year after the royal wedding. Dhowre was the actor’s plus-one at the wedding. You wonder who their DJ was?
